At my shower we did a 50/50 drawing and something similar to football squares but with baby length and weight. Half of the money would go to mom and dad to help with expenses and half would go to the winners. Also we did a diaper raffle, each person who brought a package of diapers (and they were informed on the invites) was entered into a drawing for gift cards that I purchased. I think I got one for Target and one for Outback steak house, each for $50, but if you add up the cost of all the diapers and what I spent on gift cards it was totally worth it.

My family and friends really like to gamble so these non traditional games were fun for us. Just an idea.

I was just at a baby shower wherer we used fabric markers to decorate onsies of different sizes. And we passed around a book to write advice for the new parents.
Good luck, A. H

A simple non-game thing you could do it put the baby name on the bottom of someone's chair & give out a prize for that. Or on the bottom of desert plates. I have seen both.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

For my own personal baby shower and for one that I threw for my brother in law and his girlfriend, we invite guys and girls and kids! I think it's kinda old fashioned to think that just the woman is having the baby. We threw big baby shower parties! WE played games with couples, each person only using one hand and trying to put diapers on baby dolls....hilarious!

It's nice to have everyone write down their advice and wishes in a special book or on colored, blank 3x5 cards that are then put into a book for the mom. They can even be read anonymously out loud if you want. Having people bring the baby books instead of cards is very nice to start a little read-to-me library. I played one game recently that got people talking among themselves. There were baby care items in numbered lunch bags on a table that everyone had to go to. You had to feel and shake them and list on your numbered paper what you thought they were. Prizes were given later. Another shower I went to, everyone was given arts/crafts items to deocrate cardboard cutouts of a baby girl dress (could be a shorts outfit for a boy). Then they were hung by clothespins on a line and there was voting for the cutest. This also took some time and got people talking as they came in. Good luck!

Give guest a scrapbook page and create a memory book for the new little one- we did this at my shower and I LOVE looking at the results, very personal and sweet.

get to know the new mommy...maybe bring a few pads of paper for people to write advice for the new mommy on...maybe get together at the Baby store of your choice and pick out a few items together and buy them as a group...hope that helps...

PS the people that were throwing the baby shower for me put this little saying on the invites and it was a big help..."bring a pack of diapers and have your name entered into a raffel for a gift card" they bought a 25.00 gift card to target...it was a HUGE success..I would deffinatly recomend it
