Anyone else having trouble with the little ones not getting over the cold/croup/flu that is going around?
My 8 week old just can't seem to get over it. He was sick at 4 weeks with something close to RSV, and we spent 2night, 3.5 days in the hospital. Now he has had a cough cold/croup for over a week. Now as of Saturday he has had the dirrehea, he had 10 yesterday, and just this morning we have gone through 3 diapers in less than a hour.
My 2 year old had the runs two weeks ago, but that's all, and no one else in the family is sick, other than I don't feel well, but no fever. OH baby has had a low grade fever off and on from Friday on...
Any ideas, of good cleaning tips to get this junk out of my house? I have been cleaning and doing laundry like a man woman...
I am going to call his doctor this morning and see if they want to see him... we were just in there Friday... OH he does seem to be eatting ok, not as much, but not bad, and he has been sleeping a little more...
It's just hard to have him sick so much seeing that he is so little...

Rotavirus is nasty and just has to run its course. It took a week for my toddler to get over it (and his temperature was really high for days, and in the hospital for a couple of days). It's good to have the school-age kids change clothes and wash hands as soon as they walk in the door to get rid of those school germs.

Poor little guy. It sounds like he picked up the 2 year olds bug since his body was already down. Just make sure you keep inputting fluids as he is putting them out. Watch his fever and of course, call the doctor in case any infection has set in. If he isn't breast feeding, he may need some extra vitamin help. Keep him breathing moist air once in awhile and as far as germs in the house, is it warm enough today to open some windows and let a breeze come through? Otherwise wipe everything down that is touched by the little ones with disenfectant.

You can put a bottle of hand sanitizer next to the front door and make everyone "clean-up" as they come in the door. Also, regular handwashing -- like hourly. It's a pain, but it makes a tremendous difference. (My aunt lives in Beijing. During the SARS breakout they had everyone at her kids' school wash their hands hourly and no one at the school got sick, even though they were in the thick of the illness.)

Keep in touch with your doctor with one that tiny. Do you have a nurse line that you can call? Check with your pediatrician or local hospital if your health plan doesn't have one.

Hi M.! If your little boy is still battling with the difficulty breathing, please try a capfull of SOL U MEL in
a steamer in his room where he sleeps. It works fantastic to
clear up the lungs, and it's all natural. It also is a fantastic natural disinfectant and kills 99% of germs on contact. I use it for EVERYTHING and I've noticed I haven't had the problem this year with mold around my windows since using it. My girlfriend in California has it and she is very knowledgeable about natural solutions to colds, flu, and cleaning information. Sarah is at ____@____.com
(yes..that's "hom" not "home" (her husband typed it!)
Good luck and I think the Sol U Mel will help.

Have you had him checked for allergies? I have some that respond that way when allergy season hits... Only advise I have is run the vaporizer and spend a few times a day when he's really bad off in the bathroom with him when the shower's running... maybe while you shower he could sit in his bouncer or something? Also, something else I've used is the Vicks BABY vaporub (I put it on their shirt rather than on their chest). That seems to help some. But I'd have him checked for allergies or even asthma.
