Our first daughter's name is Kylie. Our 2nd daughter is due in a week and we still haven't got a name nailed down, husband really likes cara(care-uh) but are having trouble thinking of middle names to go with Cara. Our last name is one syllable(ball). Please help:) also would you think Cara is a good sibling name for Kylie? Or does it sound too "twinsie"

What can I do next?

Cara is a beautiful name, but I have to ask - have you considered the possibility that "Cara Ball" rhymes with "terrible" (and wearable, shareable, etc...maybe even hairball) - I'm just putting that out in case you had not considered it, in terms of schoolyard nicknames.

ETA: maybe "Melinda"? Then she could be "Cara Mel" as a nickname? "Cara Mel Ball"....

My friend Cara gets called Carrie by friends. So it could be Carrie Ball down the line. Or Carrie and Kylie.

I think it's fine - but it's just something to consider.

We used family names for middle names. So maybe try out some and see if they sound nice?

Cara and Kylie do sound a little "twinsie" but I wouldn't let it stop me...both beautiful names. Is there a family name you could insert that would sound good? I think multi-syllable would sound best because your last name is only one. I also agree with responder below that mentioned it rhyming with "terrible". I hate that but it's worth mentioning. Good luck and congrats on your soon to be, new baby!!!

You pick the name that works for the child - what it is in relation to a sibling is less important.
They will eventually marry and raise their own families - and they won't always be thought of as a pair.

My niece Kara's middle name is Ann.

I'm a twin (my twin's name is Carol) so when I named my second daughter, I did not want anything that rhymed with Alyssa or began with the A. So for me if I had a daughter Kylie, I would not choose Cara for my other daughter.

I think Cara is a great name. Does not sound "twinsie". Middle name could be Grace. Other choices Lee or Leigh, Rose, Jade,

Cara Marie, Cara Elizabeth, Cara Anne,

I think it sounds fine with Kylie. Both my kids have names that start with the same 1st letter. It's quite convenient, because I just write the first letter of their name, followed by last name (eg. B. Mynewnickname) on everything they have, and it applies to both of them. Great for hand-me-down jackets things like lunch boxes that they both use. Of course, it's also really easy to mistakenly call them by each other's names when they start with the same sound ;).

When I was deciding in names I liked for my kids, I would yell them in order. That way I would know they would know who I was yelling for when they were older :). Haha! I like the name Cara and Kylie...I don't think they are too "twinsie" sounding.
