Baby Feet in the Winter

This may be a silly question, but when you take a 6 month old baby out in the snow with a snowsuit, what do you put on their feet? Do babies need boots even if they don't walk yet? Or should I just put lots of socks on and put a baggie over them?
Her new snowsuit doesn't have feet.

What can I do next?

They sell all kinds of baby shoes now that are really soft. I would go with socks and the soft shoes or slippers.

I would put a few layers of socks on but make sure to tuck the socks in so snow doesn't get inside. Though if your baby is 6 months old right now, she will be 7 or 8 months old by the time the snow falls and by then she'll be ready to walk a bit with the aid of your fingers so I would invest in a nice pair of boots along with layers of socks so she can enjoy the snow to its fullest. Keep those little tootsies warm! :)

HI...just an extra suggestion...I always felt that my daughters legs were cold so I always put warm tights on her and then her socks and some sneakers 1/2 size bigger than she normally wore. These kept her feet warm and then she could wear the sneakers in the spring. The soles of the sneakers were rubber and kept her feet dry...I am a mom of four-2 girls/ 2 boys :) R.

I never bothered with boots or shoes when they weren't walking. A pair of socks with booties is fine, if it's freezing out you can always put a blanket over baby's feet, too. Or, you can get those soft shoes, or actually Target has some really cute slippers, you can put those on over socks and the little feeties will stay nice and toasy :)

I think either one you want to do. If I am understanding you her feet will be inclosed in the snow suit? If so you can do which ever you would like. When my daught was little last winter her snow suit keept her feet enclosed, but I put bootes or shoes on her anyways so when she got out of the snow suit she was ready and I did not have to fuss with getting her shoes on. Hope I helped.

Usually, baby snowsuits will have feet built in them, or ones that snap on or off. In addition to socks, you could put a warm pair of booties or soft shoes on the baby also for added warmth.

That's odd that your snow suit doesn't have feet. I don't think that I've ever seen an infant snowsuit without feet. Have you tried looking at stores like KMart, Target or Wal-Mart in their infants department or shoe departments to see if they have some waterproof booties or something similar?

I hope someone else has some answers for you.

With my son, I doubled up his socks, and he had a FULL snowsuit that had his feet covered. Since he wasn't walking, that was fine. And I put a blanket over his feet when he was in the stroller and carseat.

NOW I DON'T WANT TO GET THIS WRONG,BUT WHEN MY 8 YR OLD WAS A FEW MONTHS OLD HE HAD A SNOW SUIT THAT WAS CALLED A "PRAM" I'M NOT QUITE SURE IF THAT IS THE CORRECT WORD....ANY HOW IT WAS CURVED AT THE BOTTOM AND HAD A SLIT IN THE MIDDLE TO ALLOW THE CAR SEAT TO BE BUCKLED WITH OUT COMPROMISING THE COMFORT OF MY SON. THAT WAY I NEVER HAD TO WORRY ABOUT SHOES, AND HIS FEET WERE NICE AND TOASTY! I HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

My daughter was walking for her first snow (she was 8 months old when it was snowing), so I bought her a pair of little snow boots. My son had a snow suit that covered his feet, so he wore some socks and a pair of slippers with it. I wouldn't recommend putting plastic bags on your daughter's feet. Her feet won't be able to "breathe" and will become sweaty, causing them to be cold.

Put on heavy socks. Or if you have a bunting you can have socks and put baby in bunting. #3 option is to buy a cute pair of slippers or shoes, nothing expensive as you say baby is not walking yet.

I have two kids and that what i did with both of my childern is bundle them up like I would my self. If they try to crawl just watch them to make sure the socks and the bag don't come off. We used to take ours ice fishing dressed up like that and it worked really well.
