Baby Coming soon...need Names!!!

hello all. I am nearing the end of my second and last pregnancy. My daughter, Zoe Noelle is true to her name which means "life". We do not know the sex of this next baby because we thoroughly enjoy the mystery and surprise. DH and I have agreed upon a boy name...Asa Christopher...we have not yet found a girl name that strikes our fancy in the same way. With just about 4 weeks to go I figure we need a girl name we love just as much.

I'd like a name that compliments my daughter's name. I'd rather not a "Zoe" and say a "Mary". Something as modern and cool. (Getting my husband to agree will be the hard part.) Any suggestions are appreciated. I feel like I've exhausted all of my resources.

What can I do next?

I like modern names as well. My son's name is Craven Michael. I'm pregnant as well, but I know it's a boy, and his name is going to be Gabriel Thomas. For a GIRL though... I had liked Iris or Emelia (pronounced Amelia). I had also liked Jade Marie. Hope you find a good one if it's a girl and crongrads!!!

I had the same problem with my little girl. I just went on the internet and found a baby name site. We would type in a name and find out what it meant. They also had a list of possible names from the common "Mary, Sarah" to the really exotic. This helped us.

Good luck.

The name my husband and I have picked out if we have another girl is Bronwyn Carys. We liked it because it's different and because we both have Irish heritage. Good luck!

Congratulations:

My husband and I could never agree on a boys name, so thankfully we had girls. Here are some of the names we liked:

Hannah Rose, Addison (this is my 15 month olds name, she is Addison Grace), Sarah (if we have a 3rd child and it is a girl she will be Sarah McKenzie), Peyton (we liked Peyton Elizabeth), Sierra or Taylor (this is my 3 year old daugthers name, Taylor Nicole). I also liked Abbigail Grace and Kaitlynn.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi C.!

First of all, congratulations! :)

I'm at the stage where I'm waiting for grandchildren (someday) now, but there is one name that I love for both girls and boys - Micah. I'm not sure what the name means, really - Micah was a Biblical prophet. I've never met anyone with the name, but have read it in a couple of books.

Anyway, not sure if it's up your alley, but there's my 2 cents.

Have a great day!

Hi C.,

Congrats on your upcoming little one. I have a friend who liked unusual names. She named her daughters Morgan E. (E doesn't stand for anything), Teagan Eloni (pronounced Teegan Ellen-ee), and Katria Elise. She lives in Massachusetts and I've never known anyone else with those names. My neighbors just named their daughter Ellarose.

I pass this advice on to everyone with a toddler having a second child since I received it and it worked really well for me. When you bring the older child into the room to meet the new baby for the first time. Do not have the baby in your arms. It makes them feel like they have been replaced. Have someone put the baby in the bassinet, have the older child put into the bed next to you, then have your husband bring the baby to the 2 of you. That way, it's not, "look who is taking your place"....it's "we have a new baby". My kids have always been great together. They are 18 months apart and it could have been really ugly!

Good luck and congratulations!!

Congrats on the new little one!!! My daughter is Jade Lin (wanted her middle name spelled different since Lynn is common) and if my son would have been a girl, his name would have been Trinity Marie. But he ended up with Reme Thomas instead!! hehe

Hope you find a name you both can agree on and good luck!!!

I gave birth to 2 sons, so I never got to use my girls names. Maybe one of them will strike you and your husband. The oldest would have been named after the Greek and Roman Goddesses of love: Venus (Aphrodite,Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodite was the most beautiful of the goddesses.)
{Venus was the goddess of chastity in women. As Venus Genetrix, she was worshiped as the mother (by Anchises) of the hero Aeneas, the founder of the Roman people; as Venus Felix, the bringer of good fortune; as Venus Victrix, the bringer of victory; and as Venus Verticordia, the protector of feminine chastity. Venus is also a nature goddess, associated with the arrival of spring. She is the bringer of joy to gods and humans.}

And the 2nd son would have been Scarlett Victoria. Not quite as much history to go with this one. I am a big Gone with the Wind fan, so of course that tells you where Scarlett came from. But that movie is also where Victoria comes from, most people think Rhett and Scarlett's daughter was Bonnie, but there is a scene where Mamie tells Melonie that Scarlett is going to name the baby Eugenia Victoria. And Rhett only ever says that he is going to call her "Bonnie Blue"

Hope you find the perfect name for your child! I am sure you will. You may have to wait to see him or her to know what is exactly right. My youngest son was not given a middle name until 2 days after he was born. I knew he was to be William but I was torn betweeen middle names and waited to see him to decide.

I have a friend who named her little girl Asa. Maybe you could use something like Asa Christine if it's a girl. I think Ava goes well with Zoe and is more traditionally feminine than Asa. Any good family names? Sometimes going with a slightly old-fashioned name can be cool and unusual. My daughter is named after my grandmother, Marietta. It's not ultra modern like Zoe, but it's unusual and people always comment on her name. I guess what I'm saying is that if you're having such trouble coming up with a name, don't overlook something that might, at first glance, seem too common or plain. It might turn out to be just the right thing, or lead you to a cool variation of the name. Good luck.

I would do a google search for modern names, or something along that lines.I also Have uncommon names for my kids. One other thing, both my kids have italian names (since I am italian) I think that also helps in keeping where the names "go" together. Godluck. Maybe you could call the next one Zander, or something that goes with the "Z"

Hi C.
I suppose Zoe and Chloe would be too obvious of a choice huh?
If Zoe means life how about Tallulah Rose? Tallulah means "leaping water." What is your heritage? Irish names are fun, Fiona is beautiful. Just a thought.
I have a Brianna Laine and I love that name.

Hi C.,

Congratulations on your upcoming baby! I am expecting myself and obsess about names daily. Personally, I am a big fan of traditional but not overly-popular names. One of my favorite websites is www.babynamewizard.com which has interesting blogs on names. Be sure to download the name voyager application that allows you to chart the popularity of a name in the last 100+ yrs. It's really cool! It can help you avoid being swept up in the sea of trendy names.

www.behindthename.com is a good site for accurate meanings of names. One name that comes to mind to me for you is Talia which means "Dew from God". Talia is Hebrew but you may wish to use a name of Greek origin like Zoe. Zoe also is a French name. Anais is an interesting option because it too can have the two dots above the vowel in the name. It is derived from Anna/Hannah which means "favor" or "grace". Joelle too is a pretty name. It is the feminine form for Joel which means "Yahweh is God". Yahweh is one of the names of God and is believed to be prophetic of Jesus.

Anyway, there you have it. I hope I was of help. All the best to you,

A.

What about Chloe? I don't know if rhyming (Chloe and Zoe) is your thing, but it's a cute name. My neice is Raven, that's a cool name too. I looove naming babies, but maybe when he/she is born, you will see him/her and the name will come to you. Even when you pick a name, alot of times you see the baby and something else comes to you. I have Kailyn and Ashton, and I had those names before I was pregnant and I stuck with them. I dunno. I love religious boy names, but you seem to have your boy name already... Just go with something you both like and you think fits. Don't get too fussed about it either. It shouldn't be anything to stress about.

Hello there Congratulations on the new little one coming soon. I just had my last one 6 months ago. I have a Heather Rene'e, Cody Lee, Andrew Jesse AKA (AJ) and Ethan Duane. I know these names are not unsual or modern but we went with family names. Anyways my niece has an unsual name and I have never heard it anywhere eles. Her name is Kacelyn Diane. I love her name. My husband and I also had a hard time agreeing on boys names for our last one. Girls names always came easy for us but Boys names were another story. If Ethan had been a girl we would have named her Kassidee Mae. I send best wishes to you and your family.

When it came time to choose a name for our little girl, my husband and I were pretty indecisive until we saw her for the first time. He was mostly in favor of traditional southern names while I just wanted her name to be something different but not off the wall. We named her Amelia Mae which is pretty and femine, a little old-fashioned but not common. Some other names on our list included Olivia, Charlotte, and Madeline.
Good luck on choosing a name for your sweet pea and congratulations!
