Baby Carrier to Disney World?

we are going to disney world soon...

we will have two toddlers - ages 1 and 2 at the time fo the trip.

we were wondering if we should bring a baby carrier with us? would it be too much of a hassle to take them in and out of the carrier? we do plan on taking a double stroller with us as well - but thought our oldest child might like to ride in the stroller from time to time as well - which means one toddler will not be riding at that time.

did you take a carrier with you? if so, did you find it to be a hassle? we currently have a baby bijorn carrier that our almost 1 year old still enjoys riding in and occasionally napping in (while shopping)..I have seen other carriers out there that allow you to carry toddler on your back (i think it was the boba g2 or 2g or something like that?) do any of you have any experience with that type of carrier? does your child like it? is it a hassle?

thanks so much

Here's an awesome blog with info on all kinds of carriers:

I LOVE my Kozy carrier!! I carry my 1 y/o on my back all the time, and it's so comfy! He even naps in his carrier sometimes. A couple of friend's of mine have Ergo's and love them!

I have a Beco Butterfly, which is similar to a Boba and Ergo. You can carry a child up to 45 pounds in it, and it does front- and back-carries. It is MUCH easier on your back than a Baby Bjorn! Seriously, you won't believe the difference in comfort. Not a hassle, actually, but very convenient! Plus, the kids love to be carried (especially the younger ones). Check out http://www.frogmama.com/ I love this website, because the owner is very helpful, the prices are competitive, there are instructive videos and comparisons between carriers, she has a really great return-policy, and you can also buy second-hand carriers in her Clearance section. She carries two different Beco carriers, the Boba, and also has several second-hand Ergos. Good luck!

For a day trip like that I always had my Ergo and my double. Ergo stores easily in stroller when not in use. If I only had one child than I'd just bring the ergo.

Have fun!

I used the backpack because they could see and fall asleep pretty easily but for going around a place like disney I had a side by side double stroller that worked great for is. Have a great trip!

An Ergo will work for both children. They go up to 45 pounds and they have a "nap hood."

I love my ergo and still take it on day trips with us. It is easy to get the child in and out of plus you are probably going to be holding at least one of them while in line it makes it a little easier on your back to have them in the carrier.

We went to Disney last year (so sad it's already a year ago) with a 2 and 4 year old. The 2 year old was just shy of 3 at the time, so she was older and was able to walk a lot. But, we did use the double stroller ALL the time. We rented one of theirs there as well, it's just easier getting it at the gate and not worrying about taking it on and off the busses that take you to the parks. There was plenty of room for the kids to sit and at more than one time they both were asleep in there as well!

We also took our own umbrella stroller and used that a couple of times as well. My suggestion for you would be to do both - the carrier and the double stroller. There's plenty of smaller rides (It's a Small World, Peter Pan, etc.) that the little little ones can ride on, most likely IN the carrier. Also, if you don't know, take advantage of the baby swap that they offer. It comes in VERY handy when you have some kids that can ride a ride and some that can't! Have an AWESOME time!!

I would DEFINITELY DEFINITELY take a baby carrier with me. Sometimes kids get tired of being in the stroller and want the personal contact with mom and dad, and it is SO hard to push a stroller with one hands while carrying a child with the other!!

To cut down on the hassle-factor and make the carrier earn it's keep, I would get a soft structured carrier. This is the kind with straps that go around your hips and your shoulders and carry your baby upright, but does not have a rigid metal frame. They are easy to fold and stick in the stroller basket when you're not using them.

My absolute favorite is the Beco Butterfly carrier. I used it almost daily with my daughter (now 2 1/2) until I got pregnant and too big to wear her. It is well padded and balances the child's weight extremely well, plus it goes up to 45 lbs.

Full disclosure: I run a natural baby store called Babies Bottoms and More in Farmers Branch, TX and we carry Beco carriers (as well as a lot of other ones like Mobywrap, Baby K'tan, CatBirdBaby Pikkolo, and custom-made Mei Tais). You are more than welcome to come by and try them all on to make sure you pick the one you really want. Give us a call for hours and location, ###-###-####. :)
