I was going threw some of my daughters toddler clothes that doesn't fit anymore. I was going to give them to my husband old co-worker who has two daughters almost about a year old and 3 years old. I know they could use them.

I was thinking about "baby" clothes. I always kept my baby clothes(newborn up to 1) and most of my baby stuff since we aren't sure rather or not if were going to have anymore kids in the future or not. These clothes that i'm going to give to them isn't stain, old etc. I didn't have a "purpose" to keep these toddler clothes but can't understand why i want to keep their baby clothes? Maybe it to hold on the memories or maybe because babies Grow so much during that first year? I kept what toddler clothes I like and donate the rest. Do all of yall(moms and dads etc) keep all your baby clothes and toddler clothes(incase yall have anymore children in the future) or do yall donate them after they can't wear them?

Or maybe i'm just crazy and weird? Lol!! ;)

What can I do next?

I pass most of them along. Unless it's something super special, like a first pair of Robeys or the first outfit he ever wore, nostalgia isn't worth the storage space. Also consider that unless stored carefully, cloth will degrade, and it's not likely the grandchildren will be able to wear'em.

I keep one bin for each kid. All the real special stuff. Things my mom made, particular outfits that stand out, and that's it. You're not weird, just sentimental. You just have to put it in perspevtive and save stuff that will fit into one bin : ).

Keeping ALL a child's clothing from babyhood and each year they grow up, takes up space.

I gave all of mine away. To people who NEEDED it.
I never expect it back.
I only kept, those outfits that were special, or more heirloom quality.

I also do not keep all my kids' clothing/baby clothes, because I do not want anymore kids. I have 2 and that is enough for me.

I also give away, my kids' outgrown shoes, baby shoes and as their grew out of them. People appreciate it very much. My kids' things are still in good condition, even their shoes. And this all costs money. The people I give them to, needed it, because otherwise they would not be able to afford, it.

I've kept all of the clothes from my oldest because it has always been our plan to have 3 kids. So far, we've got two, and the 2nd has used as many of the clothes as I could use with her due to the difference in time of year as well as location of birth. When we're done having children, I might keep a few special items here or there, but mostly that gets reserved for blankets in our family since those things are generally hand made. Most of the clothes will get donated when we're done with them.

I pretty much gave all of the clothes away after my 2nd baby was done with them. Given my age and our financial situation, we knew we didn't want more than 2 children. We had a boy and a girl and we are DONE! We do not have the storage space for all of that stuff. I was happy to give everything away.

I planned on having two children, so I kept all my baby stuff for my second son. After my second I saved one outfit for each baby, then I sold what I could sell and donated the rest. I took lots of pictures of the kids wearing those clothes, so I really didn't need the clothes. Plus, you can only keep them so long if you plan to reuse them because they will go out of style.

I couldn't give away the baby clothes for my first child either! I still have them and when I look at them I usually shed a tear. THey take me right back to that time which was the most magical of my life. I give away all toddler clothes and have given my second son's baby clothes away. I don't love him any less but that time was kind of stressful and went by in a blur so I wouldn't have the vivid memories in certain outfits as I do with the first.

I do save all tshirts from teams, camps etc. I also save items that really remind me of them at certain times...thomas jammies, star wars t shirt, etc. I mean to make them into a quilt someday.

just like leftovers, i had to age mine for a while before i was able to part with them.
:)
keep one special item and donate the rest.
and PLEASE really donate 'em. i'm constantly hornswaggled by people who 'give away' their baby stuff then have conniptions if the stuff isn't used just as they wish!
i'm in the donate it all and cut the strings category.

I took a few of the newborn items and put them in a shadow box. Everything else I consigned or donated, even when I knew I was going to have another kid and was going to have to rebuy everything. I don't like to have stuff around that's not being used, but I do understand the sentimental feelings that the baby stuff arouses. Hence, the shadowboxes. :)

I kept one large bin of really nice baby clothing just in case we decide to have another. Everything else I gave away to other mom's who could use it.

I used to save all the best and even wanted to use some to make a quilt out of later. I got over it when my keep pile got to be too much. I was able to pass a lot on to my nephew and am now in the process of donating the rest to a woman's homeless shelter that caters to families with kids. They rarely get enough boy clothing to pass around to needy families who lost everything but the clothes on their backs or took a stand against their a users and left with nothing but the scars they received in that relationship. I ended up keeping a bin of special outfits that I could pass onto my son when he is grown.

I kept some favorite pieces of my now 17 yr old daughter's clothing.

The rest I usually packed up in a box and sent to my brother because he is not as fortunate as I am and his daughter who is 2 yrs younger truly appreciates the Hollister, Abercrombie, and other name brands.

If for some reason, they don't need the clothes, I always send them to the local women's shelter because I know they are appreciated there as well.

I've kept clothes for future kids for years, but I also donate a lot. You have to think about how much storage space you really want to devote to boxes of clothing that isn't being used. Eventually it gets to be too much and you have to let some or all of it go. Think about how easily it has been for you to get the clothing in the first place. Do you expect in the future to get a lot of gifts or second hand clothing from family or the community? If so, you can let go of a lot of it now because more will be easy to get when a new baby comes. Did you put a lot of money into these clothes and don't want to have to do that again? If so, keep the clothes that are in good shape. Even though I don't expect to have another baby, I am keeping the dresses that my mother in law made just because they mean more to me. Maybe some day I will want to give them away, but for now they take up only one small box.

I kept all the ones I liked / had sentimental value to them (I'm not having more children)... And when my son is grown and moves out... I'm going to memory quilt them.

My rule of thumb on donating is imagining them poop & food stained and ripped up. If my face did that 'thing' (Wha!?! But! Grrrrr.) I kept them.

My mum still has all of ours. In FACT she didn't even hand me down favs between US (as in the yellow jumper and rainbow turtleneck is R.'s... The pink shirt is Laine's, etc.). When I first got pregnant... She pulled out her box. About 2/3s were too sentimental for her to pass on to me. <grin> But boy oh boy did we laugh and cry going through that box!!!

Hi. Well, as long as I thought there was a chance that we may decide to have another child I kept all my girl's clothes boxed up by sizes. After we had the third girl & c-section I knew we were done having babies so as my youngest grew out of each size I kept one or two of my favorites (yeah, usually dresses) and gave the rest to a friend that was having a baby almost every year (last count was 13!). Best wishes.

I can understand why you want to keep the baby clothes. You just said you aren't sure whether or not you're going to have more kids in the future. If you're going to keep toddler clothes, why wouldn't you keep baby clothes?

Keep enough that you wouldn't have to go out and buy more. Give the rest away. We usually get more than we need with the first baby, especially infant sizes. And they grow out of them so quickly that it's even okay to wear the wrong color on a newborn at home.

If you are not sure you are done hang onto them. I will pass mine off when I know I'm done having kids.

It depends... I kept all their baby clothes and got rid of the toddler ones. I'm fixing to donate all of them though since I'm having a boy and don't think I want anymore. If someone needs them and you honestly have no reason for them, then go ahead and send them to a family who does. Baby clothes for me held so much memory and sentimental value...
