atiWatery Eyes

My son had clogged tear ducts as a baby. He had surgery when he was one to probe his tear ducts. His is 3 now and his eyes still seem to water all the time and he is still getting goop on the inside corner of his eyes on a regular basis throughout the day (not just when he wakes up). Has anyone else had these types of issues? What do you recommend?

Wanted to add that he has been tested for allergies this year and they all came back negative except for a tiny bit of an allergy to dogs. My older son and I both have numerous allergies to foods and environmental things so we don't have any animals in the house.

What can I do next?

He might have allergies. Do you have a house cat? He could be allergic to something he eats. I use Similisan Allergy Eyes to keep my eyes from tearing and getting clogged up.
I set the cat outside to live and he adopted my neighbor. I'm happy he's got someone to care for him whose eyes don't water when he is petted.
I still have a dog but have no allergies to him.
Another thing that helps is to keep the floors clean every day since children are always on the floor.

Take him to a naturopathic doctor and have him tested for food allergies and food intolerances. Sometimes, what is seen externally is because there is a problem internally--and that is how the body is flushing or trying to wash out the problem/issue.

Many, many people are allergic to the proteins in cow dairy (either the casein, the whey, or both). Cow dairy allergies have lots and lots of reactions, and every person is different as to what type of reaction they get.

I have a cow dairy allergy. Since I've given up cow dairy, I have also given up: asthma, allergies, sinunitis/rhinitis, chest colds/pneumonia/bronchitis, I no longer have a stuffy/stuffed up nose, and the gunk I used to get in the corners of my eyes has gone away by 75%.

It's worth looking into.

Not familiar with the probing surgery, but regardless of past problems, I'd take him to the pediatrician and get their take on it, just to make sure this isn't something else. Hope he gets better soon!

Wow my life story, my son had his tear duct probed 2x and still had this problem so he had a crawford tube placed to expand his duct so stuff would drain out properly. We just got it out yesterday. So hopefully this will fix it. I took him to see Dr. S Troia at Boys Town and he did all the surgeries and then the placement of the tube with an ENT but all in all it was pretty easy just lot of time in the OR. Let me know if I can help.
