At What Age Can I Give My Child Bedding in Her Crib?

Have any of you have gotten pediatrician advice at what age it is ok to give children their own bedding (ie: pillow, blanket, etc.) in their crib? My daughter is 17 months and seems like she is ready for a little something in her crib like a small blanket.
Any of you asked the question to your pediatrician?

What can I do next?

I did it at around 9 months wehn I thought that he was strong enough to get out of being stuck under a blanket (the fear for SIDS) I do not know that the MD will ever say an age since it is not recommended

I have a 10 month old son and sometimes it gets cold in his room so i actually put a throw blanket that i use on him and he is fine. My doctor said he is really past the SIDS stage so when he gets up he just kicks the blanket off of him. I have not put a pillow in yet

Maybe get one with the holes in it so if it got over her head then she can still breathe. It think 17 mos is more then old enough for blankets however I wouldn't give her a pillow until she is in a big girl bed in the next year. I gave both of my kids blankets that were lightweight in their cribs at the year mark if not earlier looking back and the were fine. Keep the bumpers out of the cribs all together however, those are the hazards.

I'm not for sure why you don't have blankets now, I understand that it is said the crib bummpers and such can cause death but I think that if you child is active ans 17months then they are ready, if your worried just check on them now and agin. My son is 10 months and he has had blankes, stuffed animals, and padding in his crib since he was about 3months. It really is a personal oppinion.

My 20 month old has been using a blanket for a few months now and I won't give her a pillow until after at least 2. I to was worried about sids and would always dress her appropriately when in her crib. I had the bumpers for awhile but got scared after hearing stories. Besides she is at an age now where the bumpers can be used to stand and catapolt out of the crib.
