Hello ladies, My Son's 4th birthday is coming up in May and this year we are having a birthday party with a few of his friends from PreSchool coming over to our home. I was just wondering what activities I could do with them that isn't too costly. What kind of games would be fun? (my house isn't too big, so there isn't much space).
Oh yeah, there will be about 6 kids. Any ideas would be great !
Thanks so much !

What about a pre-school friendly scavenger hunt? Leave little clues and prizes for the kids in your home, or if it's nice out in your yard?

The good old fashioned games we played as kids in house parties: Hot potato, musical chairs, freeze dance (always a fav), telephone, steal the bacon. Relay races: walking from one end of the room to the other balancing a hard boiled egg on a spoon. Or having men's clothes at one end, they run from one end of the room to the other, put on the men's clothes (over their clothes), go back to the other end, take the big clothes off, then bring them back to the other end, then go back to their spot on the other end.
Mummy, another fav, u pair them off, one person is the mummy, the other one has a roll of toilet paper and had to wrap their mummy head to toe. Then they can do it again, the one who wraps is the mummy, the mummy wraps the other. Ask the pre-school teacher for ideas too. Also, u can have a craft activity, their are some inexpensive ones, like a box of wooden cars they can paint, make the plastic cling-on stickers. Teach them a card game, like concentration. Or if u have some board games like chutes and ladders, chinese checkers, pick a cherry. Balloon races, relay style: run to one end, sit on a ballon and pop it, run back. Run from one end while keeping a ballon in the air but u can't use your hands (they can bop it up in the air with their head, hip, feet as they go to the other end). With a long string or rope, play Snake. Two people hold the string on the floor and shake it like a snake and kids take turns going over the snake w/o touching it. Shake the string so it goes a little wider and wider after everyone gets a turn. another fav, Limbo! I would have a whole list of games and after I ran out of prizes, the kids still wanted to play games even w/o prizes! Try to involve other parents, don't wait for them to volunteer. I would just say, You hold the string, or you keep the kids in line. It's too much to run the game and keep an eye on the kids, so just tell others what to do, they will be happy to help (really! trust me!). U can buy pizza dough and the toppigs, they can make their own pizzas. Have cupcakes ready made, they can frost and decorate. Give everyone an ice cream scoop, have sundae toppings and they can make their own sundaes. Have fun!!!

I just went to a four year old's birthday party a few weeks ago and the games were adorable. Mostly homemade. Think carnival games but at home.

Plastic rings around a decorated two liter bottle.

dropping pennies into a large glass trying to get them into the shot glass below.

Bean bags trying to get into different sized laundry baskets moving farther away each time.

A Bingo game you can buy at walmart for around $10

Musical chairs

Pin the tail on the donkey(or whatever them you choose)

It was a girl party so you will have to adpat thsi to fit with a boy theme but the prizes we also very cute. Each child got a prize at every single game(Most were party pack type prizes that come in 8 or so packs) but at the first prize they recieved a purse(some kind of backpack for you?) and continued to fill it as they went to each game station. The kids had a lot of fun and it was adorable. I am thinking of doing about the same thing for my daughter's party this year.

Have fun with the party!!!
