AT & T U Verse

We currently have AT&T U-verse bundle. We have the lowest number of channels and internet speed and still paying $162.00. There are only 5 stations we really like. We miss Hallmark and would like to be able to get GMC. Are we paying too much? I have called them in the past to see if they could work out another deal, but at this time they are not. Any suggestions?

Thank you
J.

Ouch! We have unlimited long distance and internet, with mid-range speed with AT&T, and separately have DirecTV (which I believe now belongs to AT&T). We pay about $80/month for phone and internet, 50% which is for the internet, and with DirecTV have HBO, Starz, & Showtime, plus an older package that no longer is available, but includes Hallmark and a ton of other channels plus music stations,(but I know there are newer packages with lots of channels) 2 DVR's and a regular receiver, and pay $108, which will go up I think $3 more this month, so you might want to see what options there are about moving to DirecTV, (the new clients get standard a lot more receivers/DVR and usually 3 free months of movie channels). There might be bundles available through AT&T.

I don't live where you live but I am unhappy with my current cable/internet provider (Cox Communications) and was thinking of switching to UVerse. I asked on FB who had UVerse and how they liked it. I only got one good response, which said they had made an appt with UVerse to send a tech out, but when he got there he tried to tack all these additional charges on to their bill so they told him nevermind. I'm currently paying about $130 per month for cable and internet. I do have the fastest internet speed they offer but I don't have any premium tv channels or any dvrs. Apparently this is cheaper than UVerse in my area. I'm scared to go with DirectTV or any other satellite provider because I've heard the connection goes out with the smallest storm, and if we're stuck indoors I want the TV to work!

My bill is 162.00 with them also!! Yes we were mad about the Hallmark Channel also, and I think we are paying too much too, but I checked around and it seems like everyone else is right up with them. I wish there was a company that let you choose your channels and pay per channel. That would be awesome!! Good luck to you.

We have AT&T U Verse right now but we are dropping it to save money.
This is what we are setting up:
$8/month for Hulu (lot's of current TV programs)
$15/month Netflix's (in the mail and instant viewing, too)
$50/month Comcast high speed internet
$20/month Vonage phone service
$4-$6 per current movie rental on our apple TV if we really don't want to wait
Plus, we are hoping to curb our time in front of the tube :)

I also live in the Chicago Suburbs and I would say you are paying too much. We had the U-Verse bundle and loved it, and introductory price for a year was reasonable (although at the top of reasonable). Once the promotional pricing wore off it was outrageous. I really liked the U-Verse DVR (you could record multiple programs and it had a lot of memory).

We switched to Comcast and I'm just as happy with them now. The cost is reasonable and the DVR is just as good. Get the DCX model (their newest technology) and you'll have just as much memory and can record 2 programs at once.

Funny, I've been hearing about At&T U Verse lately... My friend pays about 160 per month as well... We have the bundled Comcast and pay about 190 per month.. So 160 sounds better to me.. Plus with the comcast DVR box you can only record 2 shows at once and you HAVE to watch one of the 2.... With the At&t I think you can record 4 and watch the 5th...

I told them I was considering canceling the TV service and they offered me a 10 credit for several months. I am going to have to cancel anyhow. Not sure exactly which package you have but the U200 is pretty nice. I used to have the Ufamily which was good for the kids but there were some more "drama" type channels I wanted. Not sure about Hallmark as we don't watch that too much. It is all expensive these days. You might check and see if you can cut down on your phone service if that is part of the bundle too.
