Asking for Prayers from Moms

Okay so we were way off base. Turns out the "episodes" from my earlier post last week had absolutely nothing to do with worms. He's been having seizures. My heart is broken, I can't eat, I can't sleep. My son has tests on Thursday and we are asking for prayers. I have been praying non-stop, and so has my husband. I just want my baby to be okay.

What can I do next?

Sending prayers your way!

One of my brothers was diagnosed with a seizure disorder at around the same age as your son. He was put on medication and really once they ironed out the right meds at the right dose, we more or less forgot about it. He's now in his 30s and lives a totally normal life. He hasn't had a seizure in many, many years but still takes his medication. My parents were, of course, terrified when this was first happening but the outcome was just fine. I hope that you get reassuring news soon.

What a worry this must be -- I am sending prayers even as I send this. I will light a candle to burn all night for you and your son. May his angels be ever so close and bath him in love, light and protection, may God's healing enclose him in everlasting radiance and lift him to complete health, complete healing.
May All Be Well

Prayer are being sent your families way!

My mom has had epilepsy since she was 2. She has been off of her meds for 30+ years and she will have small ones a couple times a year but nothing big/ major.

I know its scary, but medicine has come a long ways since she was little. I will be praying for you, but know that even if he does have seizures he can still live a normal, healthy life!

As a cancer survivor I know that God is big enough to handle any situation. He gave your baby life and knows his body well. I am praying that God would give you HIS peace and comfort during this time and lead the Doctors to treat your baby boy. I know that there is comfort in reading the Bible especially Psalms. Praying for you, A.

Sorry to read this. I saw this video yesterday and wanted to share it with you:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecpa3jGR5Fo&feature=re...

Elaine Gottschall was the mother of a very sick daughter who had seizures and ulcerative colitis. She was referred by a friend of a friend to Dr. Sydney Haas, a pediatrician who was looking at gut issues in children (e.g. Celiac disease). He came up with a special diet that helped his patients and Elaine went back to school to get a degree in biochemistry, and then continued Dr. Haas' work after he died in 1964.

My daughter (7) has been diagnosed with multiple health issues since 18 months old. When I found the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, I started her on it despite being told by many doctors that it wouldn't do anything. Two years later, she's off all but one medication and is doing better. Still not 100% but I'm glad she's off the more risky medications.

Email me if you decide to try it and have questions. I can point you to some resources. It won't take the place initially of any medications your son needs to be on to get the seizures under control, but it is something you can try alongside traditional medication to see if you can help your son.

Saying prayers for your son. Hope you get answers very soon.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this.

I hope this gives you some comfort: my BIL's son had seizures when he was little. He later outgrew them. I hope that is the case for you.

Good luck and thinking of you. The good thing is if that they know they are seizures now they will be able to treat them soon. Hope you got in with a good neuro. I read your previous post now since I hadn't read it before and it makes a lot of sense.

Praying for you! You can do this. God will lead you to where you need to go. Listen to the whispers and trust God. This is a time where you and your husband need to turn to each other and be strong together for your son. A united front for your son always. Good Luck.
I will definately say a prayer for you tomorrow.

You have my prayers! You will worry as any good mama will, but know that many children outgrown their seizures. My daughter was diagnosed at exactly the same age as your son. We found the right medication for her, and I watched her religiously! She came off her medication a month before she turned eight, and has been seizure free ever since. It IS scary, but it will be okay! You have my prayers!

I am so very sorry to hear this about your son. My son had a grand mal seizure out of the blue the morning after his 4th birthday. The scariest day of my life, by far. I was like you. Terrified to let him out of my site. I googled and googled information until I made myself sick (don't recommend it, there are some scary things out there). We couldn't get into a neurologist for almost a month. We went through all the tests, too. They could never find a reason for his seizure, and by the grace of God, he hasn't had another. I know that feeling of helplessness, like your heart has been ripped in two and your entire world has been shaken. The whole ordeal has made me an even more paranoid mom. Poor kid sleeps with a video monitor in his room, now. Please know that you are not alone and that many kids have seizures that eventually they outgrow and go on to lead normal, healthy lives. Educate yourself as much as you can about this. Get 2nd opinions if you need them. Empower yourself as much as possible. Ask lots of questions! I'll pray for your family. Please keep us updated.
