I get a metabolic advantage (i.e., I can eat a little more and still lose weight) with strength training (I do P90X classic version).

It also helps me to count calories for every single bite of food, no matter what time of day. If I stay below 1500-1800 per day I tend to lose weight. When I don't count I tend to eat way more than I think I'm eating.

Good luck.

Eat less. Exercise and especially work out large muscle groups (weight training). Don't drink soda or any sweet drinks. Drink water! Eat whole grains only. Be active every day. Good luck!!!

eat less. sounds simple. it's not. so get a plan. find out what to eat that will fill you up. For me, thats a whole ton of fresh fruits and veggies with protein - yogurt, string cheese, lean grilled chicken and fish.

move more - sounds simple, it's not. so get a plan. I KNOW how hot it is. can you take baby strolling around the block early every morning and late every evening? walk to the park and walk laps around it when you get there. mornings and evenings are pleasant. Find something you like to do. For me, that's Zumba class. I sweat my @ss off for an hour twice a week and love every minute of it.

remember, it takes 2 weeks of doing something for it to become a habit. those 1st 2 weeks its hard to make yourself go. After that 2 weeks, its hard not to go. You look forward to it.

Eat less, move more. That's pretty much it... weight loss is a very simple formula. The hard part is actually doing it and not trying to find a short cut.

Not eating after 7? Irrelevant if you don't eat well right up until 6:59. Keep a food journal for several weeks. Write down absolutely everything that you eat and drink. Look for patterns... morning, midafternoon, evening... in front of t.v., when you're bored/stressed/tired... Also take a look at the "mindless" calories you are consuming b/c those should be eliminated first. Cut them out entirely (sugars usually).

Figure out how many calories per day you are eating and start reducing! Add in a 20 minute walk every day and you will find yourself dropping weight, feeling better and making life changes rather than "dieting".

Eat 5 small healthy meals a day - a light breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, light dinner. It helps to maintain your blood sugar levels and improves metabolism.

Exercise regularly. Even if it's just a short walk everyday.

Your diet should include whole grains and lots of veggies.

Drink lots of water. Beverages can contain lots of calories and diet beverages have ingredients that aren't good for you. Stick to water.

Take it one step at a time. If you all of the sudden make drastic changes, chances are it'll work for a few weeks, and you'll go back to the same bad habits.

Not eating after 7pm is a good start. The other thing you need to do is figure out how many calories in a day you need to maintain your weight. Too lose weight you have to create a 500 calorie reduction every day to lose 1lb a week. If you aren't exercising I would encourage you to add some type of exercise program. I can give you some great advice on different programs you can do at home. The other thing to remember is you want to 40% protein, 30% carbs, & 30% fat in your daily meals. Go for whole foods so you will feel fuller. Lean proteins like grilled chicken or turkey, fish and you can even have a 4 oz steak every so often as well. Carbs go complex like brown rice, 100% whole wheat breads, sweet potatoes, couscous. You don't want to cut out all fats because you body needs it just make good choices here as well like avocados, olive oil, coconut oil. Lastly don't forget to eat your fruit don't drink it. You will feel fuller!

If I can help any further please let me know.

I walk or some type of exercise 3 to 4 times a week! Eat my veggies and fruits! Stay away from white stuff {like bread, sugar and rice} and added brown stuff {rice, stevia or raw sugar and breads}. Eat baked, grilled, and blackened meats and fish.

Or you can try the Weigh Down diet {author Gwen Shamblin} and eat whatever you want but only when you're hungry. I have done both of these methods and kept the weight off!

God Bless!

My friend sells an amazing diet pill, i know over a dozen of us that have taken them and we lost weight super fast with only one side effect-dry mouth. I lost 46 lbs in less than 2 mos, they are amazing. If you would like her info just let me know. I know it sounds like fluff, I was wary at first till my girlfriends started dropping weight like crazy. If thats not the route you want to take definitely stop food intake 3.5 hours before bed and drink lots of WATER all day. Eliminate sodas and sugar as well. Hope this helps and good luck!!

When I went to the doc to talk about losing weight he told me I was not eating enough calories. My metabolism was shutting down due to not having enough food. You have to eat 3 healthy meals a day that have at least the minimum amount of calories you need for your body type, size, and lifestyle. Eating keeps your body working on using the energy in food. If it gets none it stops working at it and the weight just stops coming off.

I think having a doc oversee the process is always a good idea now.

I got Susan Powter's books years ago. She was this blonde bombshell fitness guru that was cut, built, and really hip looking. She had weighed over 300 lbs after her last child was born. She ended up divorced and all alone with the kids and the weight. She realized one day that she was responsible for herself and started walking. It was horrible for her. She could only walk across her front yard. Then she got to where she could walk across then back. And that started her on the path to where she ended up being this gorgeous woman who was leading many many women on the path to better health and fitness. There are many books out there that may inspire you and help you to get the mind set to do this. Check out your local library in the self help section and fitness. You'll find that person or system that will inspire you.

Start your morning with 2, 16 oz bottles of water or 32 oz of filtered water from your sink. Try to drink a minimum of 4 bottles of water throughout the day. Take a multi-vitamin, B12, and Vitamin C right after a good breakfast. Walk everyday at least 30 mins. to get you started. You already mentioned not eating after 7pm & eating healthy, you will be on your way to a "new" you! Good luck!

Yep, eat less, move more and get support. I have loved sparkpeople.com It is a great community of people all trying to lose weight and it is free. They will help you know how many calories you should eat each day and how much exercise you need. If you want they will even give you a meal plan to follow. I never used their plan but found the site very helpful.

If you have an iPhone, there is an EXCELLENT free app (see link below) for counting calories *and* nutrients (protein, fat, carbs, cholesterol, sodium, potassium, etc.). The app has a huge database of foods with the nutrients already catalogued, so all you do is add the food and serving size you ate. You can log your exercise too and how many calories you burned. It's highly motivating to set goals via the app and see your progress. Good luck!

I hear all the time people saying all you have to do is eat less and exercise more. Not always true. Eating less is not always good for you. I was eating 1200 calories a day and doing classes at the gym burning ###-###-#### calories a day and losing nothing--not a single pound for a month. I finally got a trainer and he told me to eat more, that I wasn't losing b/c my body was holding on to everything since I was working out so much and it needed energy that it wasn't getting from food (b/c I wasn't eating)! So I increased my calories to 1800-2000 a day, and what do you know, wham bam, the weight started coming off. It is not always as simple as people think... your body requires a certain amount of calories to sustain itself at rest, and you can never go below that or your body will go into starvation mode. That amount is different for every person. Anyone who thinks its as easy as calories in vs. calories out doesn't have all the information.
