Hey T.,
I have arthritis in my hand and I take fish oil tablets. They are phenomenal. Take with food, I take two. I do lots of walking, or I get arthritis in my tail bone.

I also have arthritis in my knuckles, and can recommend Glucosamine and Chondroitin, a natural supplement. It has no side effects and is very effective. It takes a week or so to get into your system, so don't be discouraged if you don't have immediate relief. It is inexpensive and can be found anywhere, including Costco and Sam's Club, in large bottles. When my arthritis first flared up, the doctor prescribed a medication which did not work as well. Now, if your arthritis is really serious or is rheumatoid arthritis, then you really need to see a doctor. But this worked for my very minor osteoarthritis. Good luck!

Looking at your diet and exercise can make a huge difference.
A naturpathic Dr. can guide you in looking at this issue from both a symptom relief standpoint as well as preventing further advancement of the arthritis.
When looking at diet, best to avoid acid foods, such as citrus, nightshades, dairy and many animal products. Alkaline foods are best in this situation. Working out in the water is great exercise, as well as weight training.
Acupuncture is also a well proven treatment.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like a referral to a naturpath, acupuncturist or info. about diet etc.

I have a brother in law with severe arthritis on embrel and had a hip replacement at 22 until I got a hold of him. He's now undergoing natural therapy and is making a great recovery.
One main ingredient is PanAway Essential oil blend that relieves inflammation. I can give you a sample for $3 if you want to give it a try. For a hard core heal severe arthritis forever type of strategy and info on going natural, check out my temporary web site at www.thenaturalscience.net. I'm really into holistic medicine and it's just a basic guide plus a few protocols for serious problems. Hope it helps, please give me your feedback on my web site!

My husband loves Replenex. It's only $10 and it's a theraputic dose of glucosamine HCI, etc. But more importantly, is it's PATENTED absorbtion rate. You see, it doesn't matter how good a product is if your cells do not absorb it, right? And who wants to 'flush' money down the drain? Plus...if you don't FEEL the difference, you get ALL of your money back. So you really have nothing to loose.

Let me know what you think.

Take Care,
N.

Hi T.- There are many natural therapies for arthritis. A "ND" (Naturopathic Doctor)can help you structure a plan of diet, exercise and supplements as well as alternative therapies that may be beneficial to your individual needs.

Warning: Just taking any supplement someone suggests to you may not be as helpful as having a plan designed (as I have described above) based on your individual needs.

Best of luck!

Hi,
I can reccomend two creams you can get over the counter at a Natural Foods store-Arnica and Topricin. Both are highly praised for pain control, though some people get a better result than others.

Also, you may want to try acupuncture as it can be very helpful for joint pain. Several people I know have gotten very positive results with treatment. If you are near Columbia/Ellicott City, I know several great practitioners. Good luck.

Try the supplements with Chondroitin and Glucosamine. They don't work for everyone, and they are only for osteoartritis, not rhumatoid arthritis, but they can be effective. They are from natural sources, and they put back the building blocks that your body needs to maintain your joints. If all your cartilage is gone, then they will not help, but anything that reduces inflammation helps.

Exercise promotes good joint health, it actually sucks moisture and nutrients into the joint cartilege, and it's FREE!! Brisk walking is also good for your heart.

T. I use OPC-3 it's made by Market America. I use it everyday, I've had surgery on my wrist twice, I stand on my feet 8-12 hours a day. A girl I work with sells it it's all natural. I 'll tell you what the bottle says. Potent antioxidant,m Promotes cardiovascular and joint health, helps maintain healthy cholesterol and blood gluose levels, demonstrates anti-inflammatory( thats what you need), and supports normal blood vessel functions.
Before I was on it I would wake up in themorning and my feet and legs would hurt so bad like I stood on them all nite. I wish I could tell you more about but my friends email is ____@____.com I'm telling you there's nothing that will make you happier. If you have any other questions please contact me at ____@____.com

Like one of your other responders said, checking your diet can really make a difference- You may want to try a wheat free diet for awhile- Costs nothing, and it might help a great deal- I had an episode of "Sudden Onset Rheumatoid Arthritis" about 7 years ago, and coincidentally found out I was allergic to wheat- It took me a year to figure out that no arthritis drugs were helping me (and I was in fact on steroids to keep it under control!), and when I finally got to removing the wheat from my diet- POOF- all the swelling -went-away-. I was astonished. It's worth trying- every body is different, but this is relatively "easy"- Doesn't involve special pill regimens or exercises!! :) I now no longer need anything stronger than an occasional tylenol (like 1x/month!) to keep the "achies" away.

There are a few studies out there that find that the proteins of wheat tend to collect in arthritic joints- they don't know if the proteins help to cause the arthritis or if they are drawn there after the fact, but many people find relief after they stop eating wheat, because those proteins don't collect there any more. GOOD LUCK, Keep after it- you will find a solution that works for you with persistence.

Hi, T. - I use Replenex from Melaleuca. It contains the highest form of Glucosamine available (Glucosamine HCl) and is partnered with 3 natural anti-inflammatories - bromaline, ginger, and green tea. Works like a charm!
