Arthritis-Like Pain

Hi All,
I'm coming to you ladies because I'm having some communication issues with my doctors and need to have some ideas before I go in again.
I had my first child 15 weeks ago. She was born on Nov 5. She was born via C-section. I have had one spot that has not healed (about 1" long). Under it there is free fluid (according to an ultrasound). There is no infection however I'm on antibiotics just in case. (All this is kind of besides the point but just in case I thought I would say it)
In January I flew to Utah and was there for a week. Three days before I came home my joints started hurting and were stiff. I immediately made an appointment with my GP. He told me it was stress and to take Xanex. It didn't work. The pain is in EVERY single joint that I have and getting quite a bit worse. Today I was in the hospital for tests and they did an arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis panel. I'll get the results soon, I hope. Has anyone had these symptoms and have it be something other than arthritis or RA? Also, if it does turn out to be that does anyone know of any good rheumatoidologists? This is the disease that has always scared me the worst. I am a pianist and to lose those abilities...well.
Thank you for all your help!
A.

It could be fibromyalgia, or you could have gotten bitten by a tic while out of state. you may want to go to the Fibromyalgia site and read I think they also have a test there. I have a virus that is in my muscles and joints kinda like Epstein Barr my doctor said it could stay in my system at least 3 months. It was diagnoised through a blood test besides my pain.
Hope you get relief soon. My doctor gave me anti-inflamatories and vicodin for pain. Hope you ache less soon.

Hi A.:

I experienced the same painful symptoms along with dramatic hair loss several years ago. While it may be stress, I would encourage you to ask your Dr. to check for signs of Lupus which are closely related to the ones you are feeling. It is a stress-triggered disease and having a baby definitely creates an hormonal imbalance. I hope that this helps. I live in the Los Angeles area and only know those whom I have been treated by, but I do not struggle with those symptoms at this time because of seeing an iridologist and trusting God to heal. (Sorry if that is offensive to your beliefs) If I may be of assistance, you may email me at ____@____.com .I am more than happy to help you in any way that I can.

Yes, you definitely need a new MD. Some good Rheumatologists are: Dr. Arkfeld and Dr. Shinada @ USC.

Hi A.,

You have received a lot of good advice and hopefully what you are experiencing is not RA. Should you decide that you do want to see a specialist, my mom has just begun seeing Dr. La in Glendale, on Chevy Chase. She likes him so far. He seems very thorough. She has also heard good things about Dr. Evelyn in La Crescenta.

I hope you are able to get this cleared up without too much stress and worry.

HEllo I have no idea why they'd tell you to go on Xanax. . JUst from my knowledge it seems like doctors are in ajducent to the FDA and pharmetceutical companies ( just a FYI). Unless there trying to Walk the talk of health. THis may not interest you at all actually. BUt it seems like Doctors are almost pressuerd to percribe drugs because of big business. From a holistic view which is least invasive to the bodies sensitive molecular bio system to these high end drugs Yoga would be a great place to start. A yoga for mommies class where the mom are pregnant and/ or where the mommies have already given birth. IS my suggestion

I wish the very very very best for you and your health, and your baby.

Hi A.,
I had my first child 4 1/2 months ago and have been experiencing joint pain, as well. It hurts to straighten one of my legs and I have had pains in my ankles and wrists, also. I haven't gone to the dr yet but feel I need to do it soon to get something figured out. I didn't experience any of this until after I had my child. I was wondering about arthritis, too, because I couldn't think of any other reason for it but I really don't know. If you learn anything, let me know and I will let you know, too.

I have had this same condition. It is completely related to the relaxin and hormones due to your pregnancy. It takes six months from the time of the delivery to go away. You should not throw your time on money away on specialists until you have fully healed. Give yourself more time.

Hi A., I had very severe bouts of joint pain several summers ago. I had no idea what was happening to me until one day I realized that I was eating lots of tomotoes because they were so good and plentiful in the garden. Once I stopped eating them, the pain disappeared. Allergies to something can result in joint pain. My allergy is tomatoes--a fairly common allergy but my mom is allergic to one of the sugar substitutes. It is possible you are reacting to some medicine that you are being given. Allergies could be responsible for joint pain--you may want to experiment with your diet. Wishing you good health.

Hi A.,

Here is just an idea because it happened to me after each kid, also to a friend of mine. She's the reason I found out what it was. When you get pumped up with anesthetic it stays in your body for a long time. Some people it effects differently. it seems that there are bubbles of it left in the system and from time to time they start coming out. This not only causes headaches but seems to effect the whole body. it did this to me for about 3 to 4 months after my last one. I thought my bones were going to ache for the rest of my life.

Anyway, just thought I would share this, praying that this is what it is for you, and will soon be gone.

I experienced some joint stiffness after having my first baby too last year, but it wasn't in every joint and not as painful as yours sounds. My sis-in-law also told me that her joints were very stiff too after she had her first baby recently. I have heard that new moms sometimes have this joint stiffness. But going to a doctor sounds like the best idea to investigate.
