Yep, that's what someone asked me this morning. And no, I am not. Just need to lose 30-40 pounds. Never been asked that before. Perhaps it could be my wake up call that I needed???? Urgghh. So has anyone ever mistaken you to be pregnant?

What can I do next?

My husband made that mistake once with a coworker. His philosophy now is unless you see the head crowning, don't ask!

Yes. Embarrassing. It was a wake-up call for me. Unhappily, I didn't stick with it.

But now, years later, I'm taking my weight and my health even more seriously - because there are some things to dislike even more than people thinking you're pregnant when you're not, and two of them are high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

I'm sorry!! I've been there. It hurts. However, when I was asked once - I said - nope - just fat. They got embarrassed at my up-front and honest response.

It happens. Take an honest look at yourself. determine what you need to do.

If you feel you need to lose weight - then you need to make the call on that. it's a tough one too. We all want to be "thin" but some people can't seem to drop the weight no matter what they do!!

Good luck!!

I recently asked this question to a person I know at a shop. I asked because of the top she was wearing. The person is not heavy by any means it was an empire top that she had on. She said that another person asked her this question earlier that day. So the take could be what you wear may make people think you are when you are not.

When I had my baby 30 years or so back I went home in regular clothes and no one thought I had been pregnant. I had a small baby tummy that fit in regular elastic waist pants.

So I see both sides of the coin. Some can be genetics and other is just that we mommas get busy with being a mom and forget about ourselves until some stranger poises the question.

Have a good week.

Yes. A few times. Mostly from Asian women (I am Asian as well). Once from my MIL. Only once did it happen shortly after I had a baby. The other times, I was asked when my baby was more than a year old.

Seriously, I am 5'2 and 115 lbs. I am in phenomenal shape right now, so I haven't been asked lately. But I still have a bit of a mummy tummy, and I can understand why people would think that I'm pregnant since I'm fairly skinny everywhere else. Even when I wasn't in the best shape, I still weighed under 120 lbs and got asked that question. I think in total, I had five people ask me if I was pregnant. It stung every time. And I will never forget it.

You are in good company. People need to learn to keep their mouths shut!

Well...the best one for me was when I had just had my first pregnancy and delivered twin girls at age 24. One of my brothers was getting married fifteen days after I gave birth to the babies. My brother and I are very close and I wanted to be there for him as he got married so my husband and I packed these little wee ones up and made the drive to the wedding. So, I am at the wedding and sure enough, lots of my brothers friends from college and high school were there and I hadn't seen these people in years. A total of TEN people came up to me and congratulated me on my pregnancy and asked me when I was due! Imagine a person's face when I said...."Thank you! I actually just gave birth to twin girls fifteen days ago so the only thing I'm due for is some sleepless nights!" The faces were priceless! Everyone knows you still look preggers for a while after giving birth and after TWINS...c'mon, gimme a break here! I laughed it off and just corrected people that made comments until I lost the weight and the tummy pooch. While I think nobody should ever ask that question without being 100% sure that you know the person is pregnant, you have to realize that on a scale of 1-10, most people are nosey as hell, don't think twice before asking personal questions, and are also not very observant. You just encountered one of those and oh boy they are winners!

many times after baby was born I was asked this. Yes it was a wake up call to lose the baby weight. One thing that helped me was to not give people a pass and watch them squirm. I used to be nice about it and say, "its okay, I just had the baby so I'm still looking a little pregnant." But about the 4th time it happened, I just callously let them know there was no baby on the way and watched them squirm squirm squirm. Then I signed up for the gym.

My dad did it. He was getting a haircut where his niece works at.(she was out for the day) He asked the lady that was cutting his hair when she's due? Needless to say she messed his hair up.(she WASN'T pregnant!!) It was funny in a way but I felt bad for him.
