Are Muliple Personalities Common?

Just wondering id multiple personalities on this site are common.
It seems to me that they are.
See, the thing is, I state my opinions, advice, etc. and don't feel that I need to "appear" as different posters.
Like it or not. My account has been the same since I started on Mamasource at the dawn of time.
What gives?
I know for sure of at least two people who keep changing their names, nicknames, locations, maintain multiple accounts and respond to their own questions!
This site is anonymous, so I don't get it, 17,000 flowers later.....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

3boysunder3...I know for sure. No it has nothing to do with someone that mentioned that lately. What's YOUR deal?

"Me thinks you doth protest a little TOO much" comes to mind.
The people that live in glass houses are just great, aren't they?

@Cheryl, please give my regards to your "cousin"!

Funny that the same people who say just "ignore" someone you don't agree with are the ones that PM, threaten and report!
And I think, maybe I'm wrong, but a post that someone might find offensive needs more than one "report" to get it pulled. Hmmmmmm...interesting. Coincidence?

this is just totally hilarious to me! i barely have enough time to get on here and read/respond let alone worry about who i am while i'm on here ;) lol i can see the zip code thing, etc. and maybe there are people that have stalkers? who knows. the online community is sometimes a scary place but to do it without a good reason is definitely odd. I am what i am and that's all that i am!

No...

Maybe....

LOL

What real difference do the 'names' and locations make really??

EXCEPT that sometimes valuable information from their 'background' may (or may not) be relevant or helpful...TO THEM!

Bottom line...people with a concern...in A moment of time...ask a question.

Who knows (or has the time to worry) why they have changed specifics?

Annoying...perhaps...

I AM 'catwalk w.'

have been for years!!

I figure this site is designed to 1. sell things 2. serve as a support system for mamas.

If it helps someone to have multiple accounts, how does that affect me negatively? Heck, this site is my dirty little pleasure. If someone takes the time to create MORE questions and personalities it *actually* gives me a kick. They're doing me a favor by giving me O. MORE reason to put off my (never ending) laundry.

It never even occurred to me that someone WOULD have more than O. account. Why? And why would someone respond to their own question?? I am very confused.

I don't say anything on here that I wouldn't say to someone's face, so I guess I don't worry about anonymity too much.

It takes all kinds.......

No, but wouldn't it be funny? I can rudely comment on my own questions and be totally vicious and then everyone would be supportive of me and looove mee! hehe...

There are a few people I suspect of being the same person, but I have no way of knowing for sure, and frankly I don't care.

Though, IF I had something extremely serious, personal... I possibly may make up a different account so that any family/friends I have on here wouldn't scout me out.

I had a different handle back when it was mamasource (Am I the only O. vexed they've co-opted mamasource into their sell-sell-sell area?), because I was in 2 locations (Seattle & SanDiego). Back then, you could only change your zip once every 24 hours, so it was easier to have 2. When the locations merged, I dropped O.. When was that again? Awhile back.

I waste enough time on here already without arguing with me'self! Oy. Can you imagine? TWO verbal diarrhea posts from me per topic? I shudder to think.

Although I have to admit, it was tempting to leave my original screwed up marriage post on a DIFFERENT name other than my own, I've since made peace with it. I have an awful marriage but a really happy life. Que Sera.

I didn't realize so many people did that. I did chat with O. momma privately once, and she told me that she had asked a question once, and people were so rude to her that she felt like she needed to change her name to stop being harassed. I don't think I was on the site then because I have no idea what the topic was. But I wonder if that is why some other people do it too. While I love chatting here and answering questions, I have seen at times how attacking people can get. And I can see why some might feel inclined to change their names.

As for me, I've never changed my name:-)

There is something else to take "into account" so to speak... Say someone who normally doesn't speak up uses this forum to ask a question. could be someone who is abused and fears that her abuser will find out she asked a question. Or what if like so many, it's a question that is VERY personal and the poster feels ashamed to even ask it, but knowing this place is anonymous does so.. but once he/she gets their answer, they delete their account.. I think people have many different reasons to change their name and such.. True, some people like drama, but others change things for a myriad of reasons. I think if something looks fishy.. then best to stay away from the question and the person. Oh and even though this site is anonymous, it doesn't always feel that way.. For example, although I have not asked a lot of questions.. when I have, gotta say, I felt vulnerable.. yes, this knowing that this site is anonymous... And although there is something freeing about speaking up , there is also something uneasy about it.. yet another reason to change O.'s account.. maybe it's just me.. but I can definitely see why someone might change their account.

Some people are just self-conscious and may not feel comfortable asking or responding to a question per a particular topic. But they want to ask it or answer it, so they use another name, to do so.

Maybe.

I have been here since MamaSource, too.

I don't know that it's common to this site, but its definitely common on other sites that I used to view frequently. I stopped wondering the why's of it and figured there could be several reasons.

Off Topic: I am intriqued how you get so many flowers. It seems like just a few months ago you posted something about "how many flowers do you have?" and that was the first time I'd ever realized I had flowers, LOL! I saw that I had a few hundred and spent weeks to see them all. Now I check them daily, the red total disappears and I have no idea how many I have. I was impressed at your 10,000, but racking up 7,000 more flowers in a few months . . . I can't imagine . . . I doubt I've received 20 since that day. I'm trying to tuck away my competitive self and not be jealous :)

For me, two accounts would be too much of a hassle. Since I opened this O., I have never "logged off" or had to "log on"...when I go to the site, I'm just automatically signed in. That's the way I like it...if I had to sign in, sign out, remember two different account names, etc, I would probably just quit. If I got so involved in this site that I felt I had a NEED to have two accounts, I should probably quit.

Since I've been on here a while, I really don't want to change my account name and picture and all of that. But if I had a very personal question I didn't want my local friends to hear about, I could totally see myself making a second account. I tell EVERYONE about this site, so O. day I'll likely see my SIL and BFF and MIL and other friends on here. I may not want them knowing about certain personal things. Funny how you can say anything to strangers on a computer, but not to people you know, eh? BTW - If I ever make a second account, do you mind if I'm from Pittsburgh?

I guess I'm an idiot, but why would anyone be worried about anyone else having more than O. account. On the other hand, why would anyone need more than O. account.

I've been here since Mamapedia was Mamasource (and there were only like 40 people on the site) and I haven't changed a thing.

**No wait, that's a lie. My picture changes occasionally...I think I don't have O. now. But that's all I've changed.
