I got a Kindle for Mother's Day and looking to try out some more new kids' apps. They like the puzzles and letters but we are open to try anything. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I'd keep the Kindle for yourself and postpone the kiddie apps as long as possible. Remember, this is the digital native generation. They have hteir whole lives, peers and school to introduce them to the all-digital lifestyle. Sorry if I sound like a fuddy duddy.

I agree w/ ES. The only exception would be on a long road trip !

OR... if you are good about limiting the time

My son loves math, so I did a search for free first grade math apps, and found a few that he likes. I don't remember the specific names of them, but if you do a search, some will pop up.

Monkey Words - my kids love it and I like I the background music. :) After a couple of word games, they get to pick a frog, flower or some sort of bug for their online terrarium - it's so fun!

I'm sorry but I dont agree---My son loves to play outside and use the apps on my Ipad. In fact his speech therapist recommended them. My son is 5 and loves Reading Raven, Starfall, Monkey Pre-school Lunchbox. Those are some great educational apps for him. I also just looked in the app store for free educational childrens apps and they had a ton. Good luck and your kids will love them. You can have a good balance of both.

We just had fun with the good ol Map App. We started out by looking at the 13 colonies to the Appalachian Trail, and off to the Santa Monica beach where we dipped our feet in the ocean last weekend.

We pinched the map down smaller and smaller until the world map plopped into a ball and then we star gazed via satellite.
