Appropriate Tip for a Child's Haircut

My daughter is 3 1/2 and when I take her to get her bangs trimmed it is $6.00. A full haircut (bangs and about an inch off of the length) every 3 months is $14. What is an appropriate tip for each of these prices? I always feel like basing the tip on percentage isn't tipping enough, but the charge for the cut is such a small dollar amount that I don't want to tip more than the price of the cut either! I should also mention that this is one of those places where we get a different, random person everytime - not a salon where we see the same person every time.

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies - Very helpful! Just needed that reassurance that I was doing the right thing. Almost all of the suggestions were for what I have been doing. Thanks!

My daughter is 16 months old and has had her hair cut twice now and I was only charged $5 and I gave them a $2 tip. I figure when I get my hair cut I usually give a $5 tip so since her cut is not such a big deal to do I tip less. I tip a set amount no matter how much the cut cost because it is still a cut. Plus if it is a different person everytime then they are not going to know how much you tipped the last time.

I think $2 for a bang trim and $3-4 for the full cut is fine.

I'm a hairstylist, and I've seen tips from a single dollar to forty!

On a $6 bang trim, whatever you are comfortable with is fine. I would probably give anywhere from a $1 to $5... depending on if they stylist was good, if she was nice to the child, if the bang trim is even...

Also, those smaller salons, you can always request the same stylist every time if you like. Sometimes, it's easier to make the follow up appointment right there if you really like his/her service and want to see them again.

I would leave a $10 for the bang trim ($4 tip) and a $20 for the haircut ($6 tip). But that's just me. I tend to tip to much. But it makes me feel good to do it because I know I have more money than the young ladies who do that work.

I leave a $5 tip when I get my kids haircut. They charge $15 for the haircut.
