I would love any input anyone is willing to give me on this.
we are talking about changing our appliances to either black or stainless. does anyone have any opinions either way. pluses or minuses.
also, I would love input if anyone really loves or hates certain things about their or just good things to look for in a dishwasher, frig, and stove. we are thinking of the frig with the freezer in the bottom. also I haven't had a flat smooth top stove before and we are thinking of getting one. is there anything I need to know about that.

thanks so much for any advice you can give me.

B.

We've had LG stainless appliances for 2 years & they are very nice. I LOVE the convection oven with the ceramic glass stove (so easy to keep clean, & controls are at the back so kids can't reach), and the dishwasher is phenomenally quiet! Just a faint swishing - you can talk on the phone, watch TV, & barely know it's on (controls are at the top of the door, so when it's closed, kids can't push buttons). You can get stainless steel cleanser to wipe the fingerprints, and ceramic stove cleanser to keep the cooktop gleaming. We got them at Best Buy (including the extended warranty - they come out immediately if anything seems to be problematic).

Three months ago, I purchased a Bosch, stainless steel dishwasher and a GE, stainless, free standing stove. I love them both. The dishwasher is GREAT!!! One of the best I have ever owned. The stove has a warming burner in the middle of the two back burners. I just love it.

Dear B., I have a G.E. tall tub dishwasher and it is very quiet and easy to load, does a great job on my dishes. I also would suggest stainless steel appliances because if you get the black it will shoe dust and fingerprints easier. The stainless is also better for resale value, if you put your house on the market. For the flat top stove to keep it clean you will need a special cleaner they sell at Home Depot or Lowes, it's called Cerama Bryte. You wipe the top down with a small amount, let it dry, then polish it off witha soft cloth. Gives it a great shine and protects it from food or grease sticking to it. You only have to use it about once a week, last a long time. Hope I helped, Good luck! J. Meeks

My husband and I bought SS appliances from Sears, Kenmore brand and in the same year we bought them our refrigerator has been serviced 4 times, our dishwasher 3 times, and our stove 1 time. I love the SS look and it's easier to clean than our old black, but I just want to caution you with Sears. Definitely get an extended warranty or go with Famous Tate..they are supposedly much better. I have the smooth top range also and love it. Super easy to clean. GOod luck.

B.,

I would go for stainless steel. They are better for resale. (which you never know.) They are easy to clean also with a s.s. spray and they make s.s. wipes now too. I have a Bosch dishwasher(at the lower price end) It was not that cheap but it is very quiet and cleans the dishes well and they are almost all dry when I take them out. I have a smooth stove top also and it is great! Easy easy clean up! Just watch the kids after you turn it off because it is still hot. There is a light but just be safe. I heard that the frig with the freezer on the bottom are energy efficient but I do not have one.

Good luck

Hi B.,
I would always choose stainless steel over black since it's easier to clean. On black surfaces there are always stains especially having the kids around the house.
Flat top stove is definetely the best one to handle and clean. Saves you a lot of time. In my old apartment I had the gas stove and it was horrible to clean it. It took me forever with all the scrubbing... And the worst part is that it never looked clean! When we swithed to ceramic flat one I loved it! I would always recommend it.
Dishwasher with hidden buttons is great. My little one loves to explore around the house and it's been great that he cannot see those. Hope this helps :)
Good luck!

My vote is for stainless. It's what is trendy right now. I watch a lot of HGTV (like House Hunters) and buyers always want stainless. You have to think about resale in these times.

I would go with SS, because getting blacks to match can be a B^%$#.

Hi! As far as refrigerators go, I miss my freezer on the bottom fridge SOOOOOOOO much! We are renting right now, and left it with our home up north, but as soon as we buy, we'll be purchasing another one. Wonderful space! Good luck!

If you go with stainless, get the kind that is print resistant or the fingerprints will drive you bonkers--also keep in mind you will have to clean a SS appliance with special SS cleaner and go in the direction of the grain. SS looks nice but is a bit more difficult to maintain with little ones around.

I have black appliances and they are easy to clean and look great in the kitchen

I would say that Stainless is nice but get one with the 'finger print' -less finish. I have black only because it was less expensive. Also, I am concerned about the freezer on the bottom (which we got) because of my son being able to eventually open it himself and possibly get in and the door shut!! Scary!! He's too young now, but it's something to think about with a 2 1/2 year old. Maybe kids can't physically get in? I'm just a little worried. Regarding the stove, just get one with knobs on the back vs the front...again to avoid little hands turning it on.
