Anyone with Knowledge of Spray Tan?

I have my brother's wedding in 2 weeks that I am standing up in. The dress is black and strapless. I have lost most of my summer color and would really like to have a tan for the pictures.
Anyone with advice on spray tan vs. tanning beds? I have used tanning beds in the past but not for a few years. I really hate to do that b/c of the health concerns but I don't know anything about spray tans and don't want to look like an orange.
Advice?

I had an airbrush tan applied in May and highly recommend it! They can control how dark you get, but I didn't think it looked orange. Reasonably priced, but it is a little messy and sticky until you can shower 12 hours later.

I do the Mystic Tan at LA Tan a couple of times a year before vacations, special events etc.. I am always happy with the results. I would suggest picking up an exfoliating scrub at the drug store prior to tanning just to get rid of any dead skin. This helps to have a nice smooth, even looking tan. I am very fair so I usually go twice before an event. If you are darker skinned you may only need to go once. Good luck.

I highly highly recommend air brush tanning, where someone actually sprays every inch of you...it takes 20 minutes, lasts for 7 to 10 days, and you absolutely do not turn orange, it only takes 20 minutes, and most do not cost more than $30. Just a warning, you might be worried when you are finished because you look shiny, but it goes away after you shower, so don't freak out!
I highy recommend staying away from the mystic spray tanning booths. They spray very unevenly and you are much more likely to turn orange.
I recommend staying out of the traditional tanning beds because of health risks and time...

Have fun at the wedding!

The ones that claim to get you really 'dark' are the ones that end up looking orange and unnatural. Since it is fall, it won't be natural to be so dark anyway, right? Plus, I am a cancer survivor. I had lymphoma at age 24, so I'm not just some oldie telling a youngin to be careful. You really don't want to risk the worst situation I have ever been through.

I use Arbonne's Made in the Shade tan, part of their Before Sun line. It is a liquid spray with a pump (not an aresol). I spray on 5 - 10 pumps, then put a bit of my favorite lotion in my hand. In 3 days (less if you use twice a day), it looks beautiful and just the right shade to not be fake, never orange either. As with any other, you have to scrub your palms to keep from having them discolored. I use it on my face, too, without breaking out from it. Since using it this summer, 5 friends (including one's husband!) have started using it with great results. Looking like they have a tan without looking like they have a fake tan!

If you have ever heard of Arbonne, it is the safest, most complete line of cosmetics, skin care, weight loss (I've lost 27 and kept it off for 9 months), and anti-aging, and baby care that is safe enough for my whole family. I buy everything through them since having cancer except my deodorant and toothpaste (they don't make them yet!)

It's easy to order, and Arbonne allows everyone to have a wholesale membership without having to sell it or buy minimum quotas. 20% off for a year for only $29. Easy to order online at www.lizsmith.myarbonne.com with direct shipping to your home.

Have a great time at the wedding!
Contact me if you need more info, but a great deal of info is on my website, too.

PS- a bottle lasts at least 2 months using it every other day after you established the tan. Much cheaper than using a facility's spray tan, and you can guarantee no streaks by doing yourself with a bit of lotion.

Hey,

I had used the mystic tans before my wedding (5 years ago). I would recommend doing it one time in advance to make sure you like it. I didn't turn orange, but I was really dark. A couple people thought I had just gotten back from Bermuda...lol. Thank goodness I hadn't done it a couple days before my wedding! Also, do it after a pedicure or any exfoliating. It will get scrubbed off.

Another thing would also be a product called Allure from Surprise Parties (hey, I'm a SP consultant, so I gotta mention it, right?...lol). It's a bronzer that works itself into your skin like a lotion. If you want a lighter glow, you put less on, if you want darker, you put more on. (If you put it on your legs, you can fake pantyhose!) It's only about $8.

Good luck and have a great time at the wedding!

I have done the mystic tans at LA Tan, and I did not turn orange. Thay have a clear spray and a bronzer. The bronzer may turn you orange, so go with the clear. You will see some color after the first time, but I ended up doing it 2 times ( once per week) to get a bit more color.
