Anyone Use "Duet DHA" Prenatal Vits??

With my first pregnancy, I used a Rx prenatal. This time my Dr. recommended a new Rx, this one has an Omega 3 pill as well. Just wondering if anyone else used this and what your experience was. It says on the website that I will need to take additional calcium and magnesium, that seems weird. i called the company and the fish oil comes from anchovies and sardines, which are recommended fish that don't contain mercury, so it should be safe. If you didn't take this, did you take supplemental Omega 3 and what kind?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all! I decided to go for it and picked up the Rx today. I've never had stomach issues with any vitamin, so I'm sure I'll be good with this one too. thank you so much for all the input.

I used Duet throughout my pregnancy and still using occasionally because we may ttc again soon. I had no problems at all and gave birth to a perfect 7 lb. baby girl this past July. My doctor didn't mention taking additional calcium or magnesium so I just took the Duet.

I have used DUET DHA for over 3 years now. I used it for all three of my pregnancies and while nursed all of my children (I am still in my third pregnancy). I have had 3 different doctors because of moving and all of them think it is a good vitamin and that it is complete i.e. I don't need to take any supplements. My two daughters are very healthy and growing great. My third according to ultrasounds is good too. I had great pregnancies and deliveries. I would recommend the vitamin to anyone. Good luck

Hi M.,
When I was pregnant with son #2 my sister in law told me about Juice Plus. It's not a vitamin, just whole food, fruits and vegetables in a capsule. I took that instead of the prenatals which were causing me much stomach distress. I was so happy with it that I became a distributor and have now been taking Juice Plus for 8 years along with my husband and 2 boys!! You take double the recommmended amount while pregnant (this meets the folate requirement). Dr. Doug Odom, OB/GYN of Mississipi is doing lots of research and has had excellent results with over 350 pregnancies. Lower C-sections, less premature deliveries, less preeclampsia and higher birth weights!
I hope you look into it! Let me know if you would like more info!

I used the duet with my 3rd baby and had no issues with it. I never had to take extra supplements either, mainly because I'm a dairy lover and calcium is never a problem for me. One thing to note, if that little clear "fish oil" pill ever pops, beware, it will stink to high heaven and it's very hard to get off. I found this out the hard way with my oldest son. Congrats on #2 and best of luck to you!

Hi M.,

Congratulations on your new baby! I used Melaleuca brand prenatals that are also a pharmaceutical grade vitamin. They have a unique delivery system that MAKES them absorb. Melaleuca also has an pure Omega prenatal that is excellent.
The Duet are a pharmaceutical grade (I wasn't sure by the way you phrased it in your note)and the Omega oils are ESSENTIAL in neurological development.

Bravo for your doctor! So many don't understand that Omegas will help in the womb.

Now that you've taken this step understanding about mercury. Make sure you do your research on immunization. Thimerosol is in many, many of the vaccines produced. I would be glad to send you some links for your research.

I'm so tickled that this little one is already on it's way to a wonderful start!

Regards,

M.

I took Duet with my 1st pregnancy. I didn't have any problems with it. I did take an extra calcium supplement because I don't drink milk, but that is recommended regardless of the kind of vitamin you take.

Hi M.,

I took a pre natal which included fish oil and continued taking it until I stopped breastfeeding when my daughter was 13 months old. She now 3 and I give her the liquid fish oil.
Actually, it's called Carlson's cod liver oil.
I continue to take fish oil, also.
I believe my prenatal vitamin was called Primacare.
It's one of the best things you can do for your child, besides breastfeeding. Ask your doctor about that prenatal.
It's only one pill twice a day. It's also the only one that did not make me queasy.
Best of luck to you!

Hi,

I took Rainbow Light prenatals which can be found in health food stores. They are free of dyes, preservatives, etc. I also took a DHA supplement called Expecta Lipil DHA, normally at pharmacies and usually at Publix. This DHA is from non-fish sources.

I used the Duet prenatal vitamin you are talking about. Both the vitamin and the supplement didn't bother my stomach at all and I never took any other supplement (calcium or magn) with it. I did have to take Colace (stool softener) to make things "easier" for me. Sorry for the TMI but it comes with the pregnancy! :)
Anyway, I was very pleased with the vitamins and have a very healthy baby boy to show for it!
Hope that helps!
Congrats and good luck!

I took Duet DHA throughout both my pregnancies and am still taking while I nurse. It is not the newest Duet on the market, but I wouldn't change now anyhow. I have been very pleased with these vitamins. I did not take any supplements other than the Duet DHA and have been fine. I do recommend that you take them at night right before bed, to keep from stomache upset.

PS- My boys are extremely bright, active, happy, and healthy... due in part, I believe, to my taking the extra Omega 3 vitamin in the Duet packets.

I took whatever the military gives in the pharmacy. The truth is that if you're taking vitamins (any) and getting prenatal care, your baby will be better for it. The brand really isn't that important. Your diet is the most important thing you can monitor. If you like the sound of that one, try it out. Congrats on your pregnancy! Look into B6 if you start with the morning sickness feelings. It really helps!
