Anyone Seen Disney's Earth ?

I want to take my son to see Disney's Earth this evening. He is three and half years old and this will be his first movie theater experience. I have read a few reviews that said some of the "circle of life" scenes were a bit too much for their three year old. We have not had cable for eight years now, so my son has grown up on PBS and the nature shows on Nova. I don't think these scenes will be anything new to him, but before I shell out the money to fandango, I wanted to hear from Mom's who may have watched an earlier showing. Just wondering if it will be too intense for him. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Well after much debate, I decided to go see it. I am glad I did. The cinematography was amazing. My son was really into the animals and was mesmerized through the entire movie. That being said, I can definitely see where this movie may not be entirely appropriate for everyone. My son has seen many nature specials, so nothing was a surprise. For those who are concerned or debating: I don't remember seeing any blood anywhere in the movie, but... there is a scene where you see a wolf stalk a baby caribou. They show the wolf grab the caribou by the leg and then it goes to black (many kids in the theater thought they were playing). They show five lionesses attack an elephant, but it's in night vision, so there aren't too many details, but it can be disturbing. There is a shot of a cheetah hunting an antelope. It's in slow motion. A great white shark gets a sea lion (my son never noticed the sea lion he just saw the shark jump out of the water). The hardest part involves a male polar bear. He is hunting for food and attempts unsuccessfully to hunt a walrus. They show him lay down to sleep and explain that he later dies. I teared up, but my son didn't catch the narration, so it wasn't a big deal to him. So I think everyone will have to decide for themselves. For us, it was a great experience and some much needed one on one time.

Thanks Stacey.... I had planned to see the movie myself because I love what Disney does.

It sounds like you made a good choice for yourself and your son. I appreciate the review.

I checked the link listed below and it was SO negative about the movie, I decided it was very biased. Probably some extrememist somewhere. Too bad that many people will base a decision on 1 site and not base it on balanced information.

You sound like a great mom. My 14 yr old daughter loves the nature shows.

Thanks for the update. I had been wondering about the death scenes in the movie myself, so I'm glad to know what you saw and how your son reacted to it.
