Anyone Scrapbook Anymore!?

Would like to find someone to help motivate me to get my scrapbooks caught up again! I used to scrapbook regularly, but since 2005, it's been a pile of supplies in the basement, surrounded around everyone's "stuff" that has been dumped on my table! UGH!

I don't want to be a collector of scrapbooking supplies; I truly want to get going again. Anyone else "with me" on this?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

WOW- thanks for all the reponses. I don't feel all alone anymore!

I normally scrapped at home in a corner of the basement I claimed for myself. I have a table, some cabinets and all my supplies handy. I cound never get the hang of going to a crop because I always forgot something and became frustrated. I originally started with Creative Memories, but over the years I found some of the reps I met to be rather pushy since I didn't adhere to all their style constraints- no offense to anyone here. I just like to do my own thing I guess!

Most of my photos are digital although I've not tried a digital album. I think I enjoy the hands on creativity I get from all the cutting and pasting. I have seen several digital books, and it sure it enticing to give one a try! Thanks for all the recommendations!

I'm in the Canton area most of the time but I'm also juggling 3 different part time jobs at the moment so it's hard to find the time. I need to get myself organized and focused at least one day a week. Even if I only did one layout a week, I'd still be head 52 layouts at the end of the year, right?!

Again, thanks for the welcome and advice!

I don't, but my sister and her neighbor do. My sister's a creative memories person and sets up "cropping" days/nights. I guess it depends where you live. She's in the Madison Heights area. If you are interested, let me know, and I'll hook you up with her. E.

Hi P.,

I am new to scrapbooking and really want to get started but have a hard time finding the time. I have been working on my wedding album for about a year and a half. I work full time and have a 2 year old daughter and another on the way. I would love to finish my wedding album and start on one for the kids but I guess I just don't know where to begin. (the space and organization is a big issue for me too) I also don't want to spend a lot of money to get started.

If you have access to a computer - I belong to a wonderful scrapbook community at www.acherryontop.com. You can order supplies from them (their warehouse is in Saginaw) but they also have a fantastic message board where scrapbookers from beginners to designers meet and talk.
There are galleries to post your work and get ideas from, people to answer all your questions about the latest trends and how to do certain techniques. There are challenges and contests each month to get your creative juices flowing. You can accumulate points just for chatting that you can use to get $5.00 off a purchase (1,000 points = $5.00).
I don't have scrapbook stores near me, but these girls are like part of a family and are willing to help you out. You may meet girls from your area and then you can personally meet up with them.

Where abouts are you from? I recently took up scrappin. I am from the Lansing area...if your close maybe we could schedule a scrapping meeting. Also if you don't get many replies here you can go to www.meetup.com and then all you have to do is create an account and find a scrapbooking meet up group near you. It is a great way to connect with people with your same interest...good luck...

HI P. -
My name is S. and I am a Creative Memories Consultant. I host Crop Till You Drop Nights usually twice a month (usually in Canton). You bring your album and photos and whatever else you would need and we work on our projects from 7 til midnight. All of my supplies, (cutters, Cricut, etc) are available for you to use. Some night there is a $10 charge and some nights are FREE. Let me know if you would like to be added to my e mail list and I can let you know when the next events are. They will be in February; I believe the first Friday in Feb is the next one.

I love scrapbooking but it seems the only time that I have time to scrapbook is my breaks from school. I was hoping to get so much done this past Christmas break and then I had to have surgery and was sick and didn't get anything done!! I just found this great Scrapbook store in Novi called Archivers. It's very nice. They have a website, you can look it up. It's www.archiversonline.com They have scrap nights on Fridays and Saturdays, it's $15. They've got other classes that are free, mostly evenings, but every once and a while there is one during the day. Unfortunately I have no time right now because of my internship and thesis, but don't give up. Plenty of people still scrapbook!!

YES! I LOVE scrapbooking and I just love scrapbooking with people and I also love sharing ideas with people and helping them get started. I see your profile says you are in Canton, that is not too far. I work at the Salvation Army office in Plymouth and I host a monthly "Ladies Scrap Night" that is usually on the First Friday of the month from 6 pm to midnight. It is free, usually people just bring a snack to share. Our next Scrap Night is Friday Feb. 6th.
P., I'd be happy to chat more with you on this...send me a message if you are interested!

HI P.,

My good friend, Jill, is a Creative memories rep and does monthly scrapbook get togethers. She lives in Brighton and is very easy going and truly more concerned about helping you get on track and having fun. Her email address is ____@____.com or you can look under "local business reviews" on this site and she is listed. She put her info up awhile ago so you may have to scroll back some. I work with her and really appreciate how she takes time to help me set goals since I'm 6 years behind on both of my kids.

I love doing it but fail to find time. I started my 8 year old's baby one awhile ago and still haven't finished it. I haven't started my three year old daughters or even ordered all of my 15 month old's photos. I am a moderator on mommysavers.com which has a scrapbooking forum among other excellent forums. You should definately check it out.

P.,
Hello :) Well, I don't know if most of your photos are digital or not by now, but if they are, I would highly recommend www.shutterfly.com I made a photo album for my Mom for Christmas and I was truly impressed with the quality!! That was the first time I'd ever done it and I have since decided to make a "yearbook" of our family for each year of our lives together. Each yearly album will include everything from birthday parties, to holiday celebrations, to fun things we did together as a family (the zoo, children's museum, etc.), to funny faces my boys made - you get the idea :) I am starting with 2007 because that is the first year we had a digital camera. The plus side to doing an online ablum is that there is no mess to clean up and you can take as long as you want to make it, coming back to it whenever you have some free time or are in a really creative mood. Good luck in your scrapbooking endeavors! Hope this helped!

K. :)

P.; yes i love to scrapbook and i love the finished project, it sure makes you feel accomplished, but its ok to also, put the photos in a photo album and keep them nice until youget time to scrapbook them, i would start by putting everyone elses stuff away, and clean off your table, do some organizing have a shelf or a basket for your stuff and a place for others peoples stuff, cause even if you feel the urge to scrapbook doing it in a cluttered area will slow you down, if you dont have time to scrapbook, then maybe put the photos in a file, and be able to look at them later, or you can even have them put onto a computer, and make some cool slide pages on that, as well, no matter what you do, enjoy life, and cherish the moments and the memomries, and keep on the path of a beautiful scrapbook memory for others to also see.
