My son is 2 yrs old and I've always cut his hair but now I want to take him somewhere local for a "professional" haircut. Near my home in ALiso Viejo is a Supercuts but I don't know about taking him there. Has anyone taken their kids there?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Cool Cuts for kids is off of the 73 and Greenfield. They have cars and firetrucks for the kids to sit in and offer video games or a movie to keep them busy. Hope this helps!

There's a hair cutting place in Irvine for kids only. We used to take my grandson there 10 years ago when he was 3 or 4. I'll see if my daughter remembers the name of the place. You can probably google it by searching for hair cuts for kids in Orange County???

Check out Cool Cuts 4 Kids on Greenfield in Laguna Niguel. I drive all the way from San Clemente to see these ladies. It is a store specific for children and my kids love going!! Sign up for the discount card (Like the grocery store) and receive coupons via email and get discounts on haircuts! The haircuts are very reasonable and cheaper than the ones at the Mission Viejo Mall. I can't remember my cutters name but she is the tallest lady there, short hair, and probably ones of the younger ladies. They all are sweet though! You get a free photo if it is your childs first haircut at a store. They also save a clipping of their hair in a special bag attached to the photo for your scrapbook.

Hi Laura,
I love is RSM and we take our son who turned 2 on 1/26 to First Cut in the Missiono Viejo mall. It's very geared towards young kids. They have TVs with cartoons at all the stations and the kids sit in rocket ships while their hair is being cut. My son is absolutely terrified of getting his hair cut, so he has to sit on my lap. Either way, the ladies that work there are really nice. Good Luck!

A Star is Born in Mission Viejo is great! I took my 2 year old there a couple weeks ago for his first cut. They give you a certificate with a lock of hair and the kids get to choose from different cars & planes to sit in. It's across Crown Valley from the Mission Viejo mall, next to SportsChalet (or might be SportsMart). Basically it's behind the Kaleidescope entertainment center. Good luck!

Laura, there is a place in the Mission Viejo Mall especially for kids haircuts. The downside is that it is REALLY expensive, I think they charge like $25 for just a cut. Upside is that they have little rocket chairs that the kids sit in and TVs all over the place playing all the shows kids want to watch. I think the name is First Cut, but it is just inside the door by the little playground area (in between the food court and Macy's). We have taken our kids there once, and the only reason I won't go back is because it is so expensive. There is also a place called Cool Cuts for Kids at 27981 Greenfield Drive in Laguna Niguel. I haven't been to this location, but they had another location at our old house. It was a great place, I just can't comment about price since I haven't been to this one here in SoCal and don't know if the prices are different here. Might want to give them a try . . . Good luck

I would highly recommend First Cut in Mission Viejo Mall. My son hated having his hair cut - but since we have been taking him there, he now asks when he can go for a haircut. They put the kids in little rocket ships and they have TV's at every station. It is at the mall entrance next to Macy's - near the play area.

Phone numbers are below:

First Cut is an innovative concept featuring upscale hair salon design, exclusively for children. What sets First Cut apart is its totally cool, always trendy, and highly entertaining environment not to be found at any other children’s salon. From the moment you set foot into a First Cut you see why children never want to have their hair cut anywhere else!

First Cut is located on the upper level next to the kids Soft Play Area.

Hi Laura,

I have always taken my girls to A Star is Born in Mission Viejo. They have cars that the kids can sit in during the hair cut and they give them some toys to play with. It's alway been a good experience for my kids.
Sometimes there is a child in there screaming through their cut and that might get your little guy going. Maybe try to go during the week when they might not be so busy.

Good luck! They also give you a certificate and take a picture for you to remember the milestone of the first haircut.

My kids have been going to super cuts from their first hair cut. Ask for a stylist who is experienced with kids. Its fine. Of course they prefer to go to Cool Cuts on the place in Fashion Island, where it's like play land, but the cuts are more expensive. In my opinion, whereever they are happy and won't scream is worth the price! My kids are now 10 and 6, so they now go whereever I tell them too!

Good Luck!

Hi L.,
First Cuts in MV mall is great. I took my daughter there just before she turned 3 and I'm getting ready to take my almost 1 year old boy. They have mini chairs (some rockets) and tv's at every station with cartoons playing. They stylists are great and my daughter loved it. This was after she started refusing to let anyone touch her hair at mommy's grown up salon.

I live in Aliso as well and take my son to First Cuts in the Mission Viejo mall. It's designed for kids so it's perfect. My son sits in the little space ship thing, plays with toys and watches Dora or Thomas the Train while getting his hair cut. Highly recommend!

I am really picky about who cuts my son's hair. We've had a couple bad experiences. I found Kathy at First Cut's in the Mission Viejo Mall. She has cut his hair several times and done a great job. Good Luck!
