Hello friends!!! my DD2 was born with her 2 bottom teeth (1 out os 2,000 babies is born with natal teeth) but they were removed the next day b/c they were so lose (just hanging) so she's 5 now and this whole time she's had that little window, well recently she's started asking me if I know when she will get her teeth. We did see them last year in an xray, but her gums show no signs of teething yet. She's 5 and 5 months. The kids in her kindergarten class have started losing their teeth so I know it shouldn't be long but still I wonder.... have any of your children gone through this?

What can I do next?

I worked with a woman 20+ years ago who had her baby born with 2 teeth. When they announced it at work, I actually screamed out loud! I had NEVER heard of that before! Anyway, no advice but since that was your topic question I thought I would answer it even tho it wasn't me. =) Good luck!!!

Wow, I've heard of that but never personally heard anyone have it happen to.

Well, my daughter lost her bottom two teeth around the middle of Kindergarten and it took some months for them to come back in, but she is now in the middle of 1st grade and I can't say when they officially grew back in, but they are back in. However, my niece has yet to loose her bottom teeth and she is 4 months older....so I'm guessing it won't be too long, probably.

My best friend in childhood was born with all of 'em, and they stayed. She lost them apx the same time everyone else lost theirs (between 4 & 7). My own son got his teeth young (6mo about?), and they stayed late. He didn't lose his first tooth until the last week of kindergarten... and he didn't finish losing his teeth until he was 8.5.

My SISTER (one of them), on the other hand... had to get 4 of her front baby teeth pulled (an accident smashed them). The adult teeth didn't come in until 3rd & 4th grade... but her adult teeth had had quite a bit of trauma. She was our "fangs" girl for a LONG time.

My bff's son was born with one or two bottom teeth, they said it was really rare. They did not remove them though. Are you meaning when she'll get her ADULT teeth? Bff's son got his baby teeth normally (with the exception of that headstart). He started loosing teeth at the end of 1st grade. I didn't start loosing my teeth until almost summer before 2nd grade. No big deal, I don't think. I think kindergarten is kinda young. As a matter of fact, the boy I babysat a couple years ago graduated kindergarten before I stopped babysitting him, and he hadn't lost any teeth at that time, but was talking about it a lot (one of his friends had a loose one).

one of my twins was born with a natal tooth on the top. he pulled it out himself when he was almost a week old. he now has a baby tooth in the same spot. they are only 1 year old so we arent in the loosing the baby teeth phase. i would talk to a pediatric dentist.

When I hosted a couple of birth clubs there were moms whose babies were born with "milk teeth" which they lost and then they got their baby teeth in, lost them anywhere starting from 5 years old and older.

Your daughter might not get her adult teeth in the front bottom for another year or two. She's only five, and some kids don't start losing their teeth or having the adult teeth grow up until seven or nearly seven.

It's okay not to have a defined answer for your daughter. At least now it just looks like she lost her teeth like her classmates.

I know that when I was getting my adult molars they actually had to cut open my gums to help my teeth come through.

I wonder if because of the original natal teeth and them pulling them, the gums got a little tough. Maybe there's something that can be helped along?

From what I've read (and obviously, this isn't true for everyone) the bottom two teeth are typically the first to come in. If she has all her teeth but those two, it might be time for some type of intervention...
