Anyone Have Any Suggestions RE: the Best Mortgage Company

Since we recently moved here to Mason, we are now starting our house hunt. We have a Realtor but was wandering if anyone has had a good experience with their mortgage company. It seems like there aren't the same ones here that we have used in the past and I can't seem to find a whole lot of good advice online. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try Dollar Bank. See what they have to offer.

Also, high on our list is Third Federal Savings and Loan. This is a safe, conservative local family operated bank. They have faired well in these tuff economic times because they operate on a conservative fiscal policy. You will be safe with them.

Good Luck.

I used to be a housing counselor (and forclosure prevention counselor). I would say that Wells Fargo is great on the front end and terrible on the backend. I would recommend Third Federal. They are good on both ends. If you want some competitive loans, I'd recommend using Lending Tree. Feel free to contact me privately if you have some specific questions on the loan process.

we use US BANK HOME MORTGAGE, they handle everything for us. we don't have to worry about home owners ins, property taxes ect, it's all included & they pay it out of our equity, all we make is our monthly payments. our due date is the 1st of evey month, but they don't consider it late until the 16th. SUNTRUST is another great one we used before we moved to indiana. i would check with the BBB on any mort. co. & also check with IRS to make sure you're not about to invest in one that's about to go belly up. good luck!!

Good Morning K.. When you say mortgage company. Do you want a bank or a mortgage broker? A mortgage broker can work with you one one one and give you different choices of bank (in case you weren't sure). I know of a guy. His name is Alan Wirgau. He is great with his clients and very attentive. He'll come to your home and discuss your options, etc. His cell phone ####-###-####.
Good Luck in your house hunt!! What an exciting time!

Do not go with Ameriquest. I think that's spelled right or Wells Fargo. They aren't very nice to their customers. Make you feel like a heel if you fall behind. I was always told when you knew you were going to be late for whatever reason to call ahead and explain. Don't fall behind and then cry to a lender. I was told they can work with you to help keep you current. Well we refinanced and then my husband had a heart attack and I called knowing we would be late on a payment (not miss but late). They chewed me out saying we should never have refinanced if we knew we were going to be late. Who knew he was going to have a heart attack and close his business. My son went with Wells Fargo and if he was late 24 hours they were yelling foreclosure.
That did happen to use last Feb because I had a heart attack and had to close my business because of complications. Good luck finding a good motgage company. I would try to stay with someone local. I wish we had never refinanced away from Us Bank. Hope that helps.

I also recommend Wells Fargo. We have a 30 yr fixed through them and I haven't had any issues. Also, I have heard that if you get some sort of credit card some of your interest goes towards your mortgage...but I don't have it so don't know the details...but could be worth finding more out. Good luck! Perfect time to buy...especially in Mason!

I worked for a builder for over 10 years and part of my job was to work w/our customers and their mortgage companies. Over the years I worked w/countless mortgage companies and taking into account that in these economic times you have to be really careful who you pick (I would stay away from small mortgage companies or brokerage firms), I would highly recommend Wells Fargo. You can locate one of their offices or a loan officer through their website: www.wellsfargo.com. They are one of the most financially sound mortgage companies at this point. They don't sell their mortgages and they offer excellent customer service and many, many other products.

If you have a down payment it's best to go to a local bank, get a fixed rate loan with no points. Or check for a FHA loan, these would have the best rates.
Good luck!
