I'm three days late for my period today....no sign of Aunt Flo....lol We are trying for a baby. Don't want to get my hopes up...but i'm late. Took a couple of tests, they were negative. Anyone have false negatives? If so, how long before you got a positive or how long before you went to the doctor? Could something be wrong?

Thanks for all the comments so far..I truly appreciate them...I'll probably test again this coming weekend....that'd be 5&6 days past due for my period. We shall see! I will update after that.

What can I do next?

pregnancy tests can be finicky, so follow the directions to a T. I used a leftover test a couple of months ago and I didn't have the directions on exactly how to hold the stick, etc..and it came up negative. A few days later, I bought a new pack and read the directions and realized I held the stick facing the wrong way and the new tests, showed up +.

I know this is REALLY late. However it might help later. My tests showed Negative for the first FOUR MONTHS with my daughter. They said it is actually more common to have a false negative than the tests want us to believe. I knew I was pregnant, from the start but even the Dr's urine test was negative. I produce LOW levels of hormones. If you REALLY feel pregnant next time, ask for a blood test. It is more accurate. Have fun with the "getting" pregnant part! :D

It depends. I got a positive 3 days before my missed period. Some people have to wait a while, to get a positive. Wait another week and take another. If it's negative, you can go for a blood test.

My husband and I were also trying (with recent success!!) I took a test when I was a few days late and it was negative. Then I went and got the First Response kind that is supposed to be able to tell you 6 days earlier than the others. It was positive!! (that was only 3 days ago). So I don't know what kind you bought, but try the First Response. It worked for us! Good luck!!!

My son is now 2.5 yrs old. My period STILL isn't as predictable as it was before he was born. I went a few cycles being 32/33 days long, then one was 44 days long! I took 3 pregnancy tests dring those extra 10 days and was freaking out as to why it was negative test results. Turns out it was just a really long cycle. The next month my cycle was 28 days, so what I'm trying to say is that ANYTHING'S possible with our darn cycles.

Yes it is very common your HCG levels may not be detecting this early I was 2 weeks late with my first took test BAM +,my second I was late took a test 1 week late - then another few days later + my third I was prego at the DRs office for my yrly exam although didn't know it because my period wasn't due for another week in a half didn't come so took a test called the office to see if they took a test after all come to find out they did it was - the nurse told me due to I was needing medication for a yeast infection..So after that had taken too many at home tests all - so I finally went in 2 weeks later it came back + after 1 + at home test after all the -'s...
This is a very common issue with at home testing unless your 2 weeks late I would take a few more 2-3 days apart first thing in the morniong that is when your HCG levels are the highest after 2-3 weeks call the office or go to a minor care facility & get a blood test although this did happen once I was very late negative blood pregnancy test it just happened once...

it can take a little bit for a normal pregancy test to read the pregnancy hormones in the body. wait a week and try again. my husband and I started trying to have a baby this mnth and my period was almost a week late...I started it today. and keep it mind that sometimes you can actually will ur body to make ur period late. ever go on vacation and are suppose to have your period and you dont get it till you get back home, I suppose it could be the dame when you are trying to get pregnant

I never got a positive home test with either of my 2 kids! With my first pregnancy, I had to take 2 urine tests at my dr. before they got a positive one. With my 2nd pregnancy, I took 2 urine tests at the dr. and then they finally did a blood test. I was told I just have lower than "normal" pregnancy hormone levels, so it's difficult (or impossible) to get a positive urine test for me.

I had two false negatives with my son. My period was late, I was feeling bad so I took a test and it was negative. I waited a week or two, took another test and it was still negative. Since regular periods have never been common practice for me, I was not too concerned. It was December when I took the negative tests, in January the doctor's test came back positive. My son was born in August, technically he was 4 weeks early, but he weighted 7.5lbs. I don't think he was early, I am almost certain I was pregnant prior to taking the the first home test in December.
