Anyone Ever Had Placenta Previa?

As an OB nurse for many years, I have seen many, many cases of placenta previas. As long as you are aware that you have it, and know what to watch for, you will be fine. Yes, if you begin to bleed, it could lead to a potentially emergent situation. If you start to bleed, you need to get the hospital asap. Your prenatal records will indicate that you have a previa so the nursing and medical staff who are on duty should be aware of this, but you should also tell them as soon as you get there. OB units are equipped to handle these types of emergencies. If it would make you feel better, call the OB unit where you will be delivering and talk to the staff or the manager. Ask them how they handle emergency situations. It may make you feel better knowing what to expect. Best of luck!

A good friend of mine had this. She carried to term, w/o bed rest and had an uncomplicated c-section.

Oh my goodness! I had placenta previa with my second pregnancy, but fortunately, it was only partially, and it moved by the time I was to deliver. I was able to deliver vaginally without any complications. So, I'm affraid I'm not much help, but wanted to wish you well!

Talk with your doctor and monitor yourself closely. Any pains, including sharp cramps or strong contractions, or bleeding, go diectly to emergency and immediately tell them your condition. have them page your OB -- this is important, because you want your own doc, and not the on-call, who will not be familiar with your case.

And then...try not to worry. You and your baby will be fine. The placenta, praevia or not, is securely in there nourishing the baby, and your doctor is aware and seems to have taken all the necessary steps.

You are not a time bomb. Nothing is ticking. It's a minor glitch in a natural process, and you will both be fine.

I have just went through a pregnancy with placenta previa, I delivered my second daughter on March 3rd c section, Which was not a suprise to me because I had my first daughter c section, On rhe other hand I was so scared about all of the other possibilities, My placenta actually did move some throughout my pregnancy, Although it was very low when they performed the c section there was a big chance for me to have a hystorectomy (excuse my spelling on that) And that was incase of extensive bleeding, But everything went completely normal, Although they did perform my c section in the regular operating room instead of the c section room just in case. So just have faith in your doctor and be very thankful that they know about the previa ahead of time so they can take all precautions.

I had it with my third, but I was lucky that it moved by 30 weeks. while I had it I did a lot of goggling it. It freaked me out, I was thinking the worst for me and my baby. I talked to my doctor and said the things they put on the computer are extremly rare things and not to worry about the worst. I just want to tell you that becuase I don't want you to do the worring I did. As long as they are monitering it and you call if anything feels wrong I am sure all will be well. Good Luck.
