Anyone Else Excited for School to Start?

I feel bad, but I'm totally looking forward to school starting tomorrow. I don't think I can take an other day of "Mom, what are we going to do today?" "Mom, what are we going to do tonight?" "Mom, can so and so sleep over?" You know what I mean. Anyone else?

What can I do next?

I'm THERE!
School started today for us.
I am almost GIDDY with excitement about having more than 10 minutes at a time of quiet. (And I have O. child!)
We had an awesome, action-packed fun summer.
But I'm SOOOOOOO ready for the school routine, I'm almost delirious!

My son started school 2 weeks ago and I was more than ready to drop him off!!! I agree that as much as we love our little ones, I gained a WHOLE NEW respect for stay at home moms this summer. Same as you, I just wanted to sit alone without any Mom! Mom! Mom!

I love this clip of Stewie Griffin, I'm sure every Mom agrees!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNkp4QF3we8

Enjoy your 1st day of peace and quiet!! :-)

ME...ME...ME!!!! My husband and I are soooo happy to have our routines and schedules back. I work from home a few days a week and spend the other days at the office...the day's I am home is a L. slice of heaven now as I sit in silence and work. Felt a L. weird at first but I love it. We all need a routine! :)

My daughter just turned 4, did preschool last year and will be again this year. She is a very busy busy bee, very sociable, and can't wait for school to start! And frankly, I feel the same way! She can really wear me out most days so I am really looking forward to her being in school for 3 hours 4 days a week, just to give me a break! However, our school district's first day isn't until the day after Labor Day and the preschool doesn't start until 2 weeks after that. DD keeps asking me when do I go to school? Can I go today? Why can't I go now? When does school start again? She does a lot of the "What are we going to do today?" too! Aaarrrggghhh!

School has already started here. I have bitter sweet feelings about that. I absolutely LOVE having my nine (almost ten) year old son with me throughout the summer. I do like having "my time" to do things that I have to do, but I also enjoy being with my son. He is only this young age once, so I want to completely enjoy it while it lasts. Our kiddo's grow up way too fast. I can always get "things" done when he is at school. When my son doesn't ask all of the questions you posted about, then I will sooo miss them. Enjoy them while you can. :)

Mine already has one year of pre-school and summer school under his belt and I can't WAIT for Friday when 4-K starts.

We already stopped at his school today to play on the playground, pick-up garbage/sweep and see his teacher's from last year.

SO GLAD I DID--found out my son's teacher won't be his teacher but instead she'll be the principal. Grrrr, now I have to meet someone I don't know on Wednesday and I'm less than thrilled about it.

That little taste of FREEDOM for three hours in a ROW has got this mom HOOKED on school!

Oh my gosh was I happy when school started last week! My daughter started 1st grade this year which means all day school- woo hoo! Don't get me wrong- I love and adore my girl and cherish my time with her but I so love having time to myself. Fridays are the best days ever- I don't have class (I'm a college student), my husband is at work, the kid is at school- I get a whole day to myself. Ahhhhh....

Yes and No. Yes as far as less fighting and bickering. No for the fact that the summer goes much slower becuase there are less activities with set times. And also I have classes myself...lol so that means lots more work!

My town is also starting tomorrow. I can't wait, although we've been out of power since early yesterday afternoon (I'm also in CT). However, I'm also babysitting for a friend whose kids have tomorrow off since the school they go to in Hartford is delaying their first day due to all of the power outages still going on across the state. It's a magnet school and there are still a lot of towns that are 100% without power.

EDIT: I feel like I should clarify. I can't wait because as much as I love spending time with my kids, they thrive on the schedule and routine of school. Especially my special needs daughter. She absolutely must have the structure of school, and as hard as I try I just can't mimic that at home. Home routine is home routine, school routine is school routine.

Plus the girls miss their school friends so much. Most of their friends are gone for the summer or too busy to be around much, so they're really excited about the social aspect of it and so am I, frankly. I enjoy the school functions and extra-curricular events since I get to meet up with my own friends. :-)

years ago there was a Kmart commerical for back to school that was playing the CHRISTMAS song "the most wonderful time of the year." It caught everyone off guard cuz it was way to early to advertise for CHRISTMAS. But it wasn't for the holidays it was for kids going back to school. The parents were sailing by gleefully and the kids were moping behind them. My mom (and my Aunt) loved it. My cousin hated it. To this day my mom calls my cousin on the first day of school (She is a senior in college) to sing the song to her (with my mom's made up lyrics too: the mommies are shopping at nordstrom and meeting for lunch. the kids are all crying and throwing a fit, etc) Today my mom did the facebook post for her. Personally I was a bit sad as my baby started preschool (she did great though) but I am kind of craving a routine. And I got so much done today too! So have a happy "most wonderful time of the year!"

I was looking forward to it starting tomorrow. Then hurricane Irene came along and postponed school until Tuesday of next week because we are still without power and the teachers haven't gone back yet. I was looking forward to a a few days with my 2 year old before I start work on Tuesday as well. Oh well!!
