Any Tips on How to Get Pregnant with a Girl???

I know this is ridiculous, but my husband and I are ready to try again for baby #2 and I am really hoping to have a girl this time. We only want two children and our first was a boy. I'd do anything to have a girl this time around. I have two sisters who are my best friends and I am very close with my mom, so I know that connection and bond that daughters have with their mom that lasts for the rest of their lives. I know there are no absolute answers, but I'd love to hear any tips, suggestions or old fashioned advice.

I read a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Terry W. something (sorry, I can't remember). She has a chapter that talks about this, and it seems to make sense to me. I would have tried it, but I hadn't started a cycle yet after the birth and nursing of our first son before I became pregnant with our second (which was kind of nice, now that I think about it), so I didn't really have that advantage. Consequently, we have a 2nd son, but I don't mind one bit!! I'm sure it will be the same for you, but just keep in mind that ultimately, the Lord is in control, so even if you follow the advice to a T (or think you did it right), make sure your mind set is good for either girl OR boy, just in case, so you don't find yourself "disappointed" about your second child, ya know?

Good luck and God bless!

Look for info online, but get it from a medical source. There's a lot of old wives tales. As a mom of 6 and grandma of 7 (and counting) my real advice is "go with the flow" and love what you get. This desire for a girl may seem very insignificant later in life. I have a bond with one of my boys that is as wonderful as what I have with my girls. As the years go by, work for and celebrate the unique bond that you create together with each of your children.

Hi J.,

I read a book called "Your Fertility Signals" by Merryl Winstein before we became pregnant with our daughter. The book explained that it's really not up to us what we're given, on the other hand, the first 4 days after your period ends are the most fertile. The first 2 days you have a larger chance for a girl, and the last 2 days for a boy.

Good luck! Happy trying! Ha ha.

There is a book by Dr Shettle (not sure I spelled it correctly), he is an OB in England. I used it for a boy. I had similar feelings and had a girl first, so for #2 I wanted a boy. It worked for me, I sent the book to my girlfriend who had 3 boys and was trying for #4 and she had a girl, I am a believer. I think the book is called The Shettle Method, choose the sex of your child. I am sure they have it on Amazon, you may need to search for it....Good Luck!

I had a boy in december 06 i attended a class once a week after he was born the class was filled with BOYS one girl showed up in jun but that was it everyone i work with had boys up till november that was the last boy January 08 brought one girl at work now there is a whole wave of new pregnany woman and at least the ones further along that have had ultrasounds are having GIRLS, at least from what i have seen in the baby class and at work is that it seems to be they come in groups, i felt like everyone i met while i was pregnant and soon after were having boys, now everyone i see around and ask are having girls. On parents.com there is a section for baby making 101 and then under boy or girl there is a calander that shows the months and dates of conception and a prediction of what sex the baby is, my son, my husband my self and my sister's conception date were all accurate sex. there are also other articels on positions and foods to eat who knows they may all be myths but its fun to read, good luck

Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It's a great book. Just make sure you follow her advice and read the whole book, not just the chapter on gender! You really need to understand the whole reproductive system, and your cycle in particular first.

Good luck! I'll be trying it someday, too. I have two boys!

It is not silly, I was there over a year ago. I sooooo wanted a girl. It did not matter the timing (if I had a girl first then I would have wanted a boy).
Anyway, I tried this method (http://www.ovulation-calendar.com/hlp-c03-conceiving-girl...) I am not sure this is the website I got info from but this is the idea.
I calculated the cycles for a few months and figured out when the dates came in. I also followed info on positioning because that seemed to come up in several web searches. I took some of the info from Dr. Settles and read what I could.
We had a beautiful baby girl eleven months ago. I was so excited and I did not find out what I was having so it was a great surprise.
For those reading, I hoped foremost for a happy and healthy baby.
I did long for having a son and a daughter for as long as I can remember back to my childhood. So, I do understand!!!

Hi J.,
My best frind in NYC is an OB/GYN. The sex of your baby is determined based on the time the baby is conceived, or the day that the egg is implanted into your ovary. Based on this information, she & her husband planned to have sex on a certain day of her cycle. While it's not 100% effective, it did work for them. I suggest going on the internet to find some more details about which days are best to conceive a girl- I'm sure there's a lot written about it.
Good luck,
R.

Well let's see - you are supposed to have sex with you laying on your back, wear a pink bracelet or have a pink ribbon under your pillow (while having sex). Um, let's see ... if you google old wives tales - they'll tell you all sorts of crazy/fun stuff. I personally wanted boys (and now that i have them i'd lvoe to have a little girl next - maybe i'll take my own advice when the time comes!) so i wore a blue beaded bracelet & was on top during sex (more assertive = boy, laying on back to 'be taken' = girl)

other wise all i can say is pray =0) obviously all that matters is having a happy healthy baby - but we all have our secret wants =0)

but i know exactly how you feel - very Gilmore Girls going on there - which is great. I too have a WONDERFUL relationship w/my mother & i'm also the only girl not just for my parents but from the entire family =0)

so good luck! i'd love to hear how you make out with this!!! then you can pass your tips on to me when it's my time for possible baby girl! =0)

But i always say this - God gives you what you're supposed to have =0) Good luck & God bless!

Try this forum...

www.in-gender.com

There is alot of information on methods of gender selection as well as active forums where users post questions, experiences, etc.

I have not personally tried to "sway" the odds for either gender but I do know a few people who have and they have all sworn by the advice on in-gender.

I hope that helps!

Good Luck! :)

I wanted to add the suggestion another posted wrote to purchase, read, and use Toni Weschler's book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" in order to get to know your body and your cycles. Planning to sway for a certain gender is a method that requires you to track/chart your cycles and ovulation times. DO NOT just go by the idea of "have sex on day 10, 11, etc"- NO!! Not every woman ovulates on day 14 of her cycle (that is an OLD, INVALID wives tale)- it could backfire on you if you ovulate on day 12 (like I always do ;) for example!). DEFINITELY read this book first, then look around in-gender.com. The ingender forum reviews the Shettles and other books on swaying the odds and you'll find that most feel those books aren't that effective- there are more scientific, effective methods to explore- or really taking Shettles, etc. one step further. :)

Hi J.,

I recommend that you read Toni Weschler's book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and follow the methods in her book for charting your fertility signs, which will help you determine the best time in your cycle to conceive. There is a brief section in the book about how charting your fertility signs correctly can improve your odds of having a boy or girl. A friend of mine also suggested the book How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby (can't remember the author, but I'm sure you could google it or check amazon) when my husband and I were preparing to try for #2 and were hoping for a girl. We followed most of the methods in that book and we have been blessed with a daughter (now almost 2).
Good Luck!!

Please check out the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Teri Weschler. I read this book and did everything by the tee and low and behold my first was a boy, which is what we "wanted". Mainly you just need to take your temp every morning before you get out of bed and go the bathroom and chart it. This will so you your ovulation cycle and then from there the book explains about what would be the "good" time to have intercourse to get a boy or a girl. I thought the book was very informative and would suggest it to anyone who is look to "get what they want" Good luck !!!!

A lot of people will say that it is a roll of the dice, but I have been where you are. Fifteen years ago I wanted a son so bad I had my two beautiful daughters and wanted a boy you could say desperately (my poor husband). I found a book called "How to choose the sex of your child" I do not recall who it was written by and this became my "bible" Yes your husband is going to have to be a good sport about things, since he does choose the sex of the child but there are things that you can do and different times of the month that can increase wether you are more likely to have a boy or a girl. Everyone thought I was nuts. Well my son is 13 1/2 years old so nuts or not it worked for us. Good luck.
