Hello, my silly boy thinks that it is soooooooo funny to stand up in our chairs and even on his little overstuffed chair. I sit him down, ask him to please sit on his bottom in a serious tone, and say thank you to him after he is sat....then he pops back up and smiles the biggest cheesiest grin. Anyone have any suggestions, I am being played here? The other day he fell before I could get to him so I would like to get this lesson across quickly to avoid the brain rattling. I also don't want to be a yeller either. I would love some suggestions if anybody has any. Thanks!
Hi S.! If he doesn't listen, remove him from the chair. He will eventually figure out the connection, and he'll sit.

my Jackson who it 17 months has been doing this too, I give him a warning and if he does not get down or sit them he is removed from the chair. unfortunantly it takes many times of doing this untill they get it.

Ooooh kids are so good at these games and even when you are serious, they think its funny. I believe the first thing is consistency so that means talking to whoever watches him when you work, make sure it is not being played as a game somewhere else with him. Then keep being consistent with him. Possibly, if he does it three times, say, "No standing. Bye, Bye, chair!" And then put the chair somewhere he can't play with it awhile. Then when you give it back say, "No standing."

yes S., he is playing you for sure. He can sit in a chair but he doesnt have to. You have to put your foot down with him now or by the time he is 3 or 4 he honestly wont listen to you. You dont have to scream at him but he does need to know who is in charge. Because believe it or not if you dont show him now you will be fighting for the rest of your life.
