Hi Moms,
My husband has really neglected his FEET! I had no idea they were this bad. He has such cracked skin on the bottoms of his feet, especially in the heel area. Does anyone have suggestions on a home care regimen.. and products for this? I get pedicures a few times a year and they do all of that at the salon. He really doesn't want to get a pedicure and I'm getting worried about how bad they are.
HELP!!

What can I do next?

I go through this every winter!! Avon has a great cracked heal cream. Also Burts Bees products are amazing. I use Burt's shea butter hand repair creme on my hands and feet twice a day. I cannot stand anything on my feet at night so I apply the creme right before I put on my socks in the morning. Make sure you put plenty on until you get it under control. SInce I have been using the Burts Bee products I have not had any problems.

I know it's been awhile since your post but have you tried Shaklee's Multi Purpose Cream? It's awesome for dry skin and lots and lots of other things.

My husband won't get a pedicure either. They are common for men to get now of days, but he doesn't believe me. I have talked to multiple pedicurists and they tell me to put olive oil on your feet and wrap them in a bag or plastic wrap and put on your socks and wear that to bed at night. If it is really bad, then he may need quite a few nights. :) I have tried it once and it made a big difference in one night. I need to do it more. Another cream I love that I use every night (thus, I don't need the Olive Oil Treatment) is Auqaphor body creme- make sure it is the body creme, not the lotion. That stuff works wonders, as long as you use it nightly or very often.

Dr sholes (sp?) lotion for cracked feet. Only those specialized lotions do anything. I know it can be painful!!!

Have him soak his feet in very warm water. Then, you dry the feet off, rub vicks on his feet, wrap with plastic/saran wrap, put 2 pairs of old socks on each foot, add a heating pad (setting on low) and just have him put his feet up and enjoy his favorite show. After about 30-45 minutes, you take everything off, have him wash his feet off with a mild soap and scrub, gently, with a pumice stone. That skin will just start sloughing off.

When he gets out of the shower every day, have him put lotion on his feet. Once a week, after you get rid of most of the old, cracked, dry skin on the feet, have him soak his feet in very warm water, put lotion on his feet, saran wrap them, put 2 pairs of old socks on and just relax with the heating pad (or blanket over the feet). You can just massage the feet when you take the socks, etc off after that.

Hope that helps!
