Any Similar Experiences with Lexapro?

It's been almost 4 weeks to the day since I started taking Lexapro. I started with 5mg for a few days and am taking 10mg currently. I have been experiencing a few very noticeable things - I believe that may be related to taking it. I've had a really hard time concentrating and focusing on one thing. I have a very detail-oriented job and it's actually becoming a problem. Sometimes my mind feels completely blank. Also forgetting things almost constantly. My husband even said something the other day about how I've started forgetting things. He attributes it to the baby... but it's gotten really really bad in the last few weeks. The third is a fogginess in my head. Some days it's better than others, but feels sort of like the morning after you take night time cold medicine... I felt this way when I first started it, now it comes and goes. I have a doctor's appt this afternoon and will discuss it with her, but I wanted to see what others had to say.

Stop the Lexapro! Have you read all the side afffects, they've got to be worse than the original issue. Try something natural that helps the same things. Good luck and God Bless.

I know it hasnt been out long enough to have side effects documented but its not suitable for breastfeeding mothers, this sounds fishy to me. I dont want anything in me that may cause birth defects or is still in that early stage of trials . Also, it's given following a very traumatic experience for a few weeks usually,so,those feelings you described would be good for a person who was just in a crash or had lost a loved one or some other crisis. It's not just for anxiety or the blues.

Everyone responds so differently to all these drugs. I know people on Lexapro who dont have any problems. I tried it once and will never take it again. It made me so exhausted that I couldnt function. My eyes would literally roll back in my head every morning when I tried to wake up. My eyelids weighed 10 pounds each. It was terrible. And I yawned all the time! I would try a different med. It takes a lot of practice to get the right one for you. Definitely talk to your doc!

I did have the same thing. I actually thought I was going crazy! I am currently taking Paxil and it helps a lot! I am a lot happier with it.

Hey, i wanted to tell you i have had a similiar experience with lexapro. I started on 5mg, by day 4 i couldn't continue. The side effects were too bad. I was about to faint, i felt detactched from my body, i was shaking so hard, my heart was racing, and i could not breathe well. I stopped it. I have tried ever medicine like this is the pharmacy. The same thing with each one. I don't know what to do next. I can't take those seratonin-type meds. They really mess with my head. I wish you luck.

Yes,...but don't give up just yet! I started taking Lexapro in May 2009 and I had similar experiences when I took 10mgs a day. That was just too much for me (it made me feel like I was in a daze and sleepy with trouble concentrating--I even found it hard to focus on driving!)

My doctor had recommended 10 mg which is the smallest dose the pill is manufactured in (according to my dr) so when I called to complain that it was making me feel drugged she recommended cutting the scored pill in half and just taking 5mgs then increase to 10mgs eventually if I needed to.

Turns out that 5mgs is PERFECT for me! I still have the occasional odd dream but none of the other issues and I feel SO MUCH BETTER than I did. (I had felt so overwhelmed and stressed out that I was worried about myself!) The stressors are still in my life (because I can't get rid of them) but I am able to deal with the stressors so much better!

I never had to increase to 10 mgs and I've been on 5mgs for 3 months now. So, just try reducing your dosage and see how it works out for you!
Best of luck!
