I just got the Zooper Tango Double stroller for my newborn and two year old. It is great because you can put any type of infant carrier in one side and the other side has plenty of room for the other kid. Big basket underneath, one handle bar across the back. And the seats fully recline but do so seperatly and have their on sun shades. Great stroller.

If you're concerned about weight and mobility, have you thought about wearing the infant? I've only got one little one at the moment, but I wear her any time we're out and I need my hands free, especially when shopping and pushing the cart. My Moby Wrap is the one piece of baby equipment that I cannot imagine being without. We just upgraded to a mei tai and I foresee us babywearing for a long, long time.

I thorougly enjoyed the Maclaren side by side double stroller for years. Not only is it easy to set up with one hand, but it has lasted for years (through 5 close in age children) and my kids could ride in it without struggling to climb in like the front to back versions ( which I also had, but didn't last) until they were 7 or 8 years old. Great for mall trips when the "bigger" guys got tired of walking and you are carrying the youngest one anyway.
Good luck!

Hi K.,

I have the Kolcroft double stroller....it is VERY large @ 50 lbs, and the seats need to be removed to fold completely. That being said the versatilty of the seats is a nice feature and steers very easily but it is def for smaller toddlers. I just ordered the Combi twin sport stroller, it only works with a combi carseat but weighs a mere 21 lbs and folds up with a carrying strap. I am buying it for when we go to Disney World but anticipate it will become my everyday stroller. My daughter is 25 months and my son is 7 months so I do not need to attach his carseat. I wish i would have known about the Combi a few months ago!! Best of luck finding a stroller that suits your needs.

I bought the Joovy Ultra Lightweight Caboose sit and stand stroller. I really like it. You can drive it with one hand and it has a universal car seat spot in the front so you don't even have to take the baby out of his car seat. Only negative is that it could use a little more storage room below.

I just purchased my 3rd double stroller. I have a few different styles. I by far like the tandem style for a few reasons, they are easier to get down rows like in clothing stores when you leave the main aisle, they have snack trays and cup holders, and nice roomy baskets underneath. I have a 3 1/2 year old, a 2 year old, and a baby due May 9. I just purchased the Graco Quattro Tour Duo and LOVE IT! The front seat and nice and roomy and will accomodate a child up to 50 lbs! My Graco infant seat fits nicely in the back and the back seat fully reclines. Definately go to the stores and push some around with your kids in it, the weight can make a big difference in how the stroller pushes. Good luck!

We have the Graco Quattro Duo and love it for our toddler and infant. It folds compact, is easy to steer, and comfortable for both me and my husband who's almost a foot taller to use.

I am pretty sure that all double strollers are cumbersome. I use the Graco duo-glide. It was recommended to me and I see lots of other moms with it. It gets the job done and the kids are happy in it! I am anxious to hear what other moms have to say.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE one I got at Babies R US - it's called the sit and stand double stroller and it is red. There is a place you can pop in the baby seat and then the other place you can have your child sit and be strapped in, but it's not a "seat", it's like a stool. I loved that they can get on and off with ease - encouraging some walking but could still be restrained.

I love my Baby Trend Take Me Too. The back seat allows my 3 yo daughter to get in and out on her own. The front seat is perfect for my 1 yo. Both seats can take the "bucket" car seat. The deluxe models have trays for both kids and a parents consule but I like the lower end model for its convenience and price (about $80.00).

I had a sit and stand but the "stand" part was not good for a younger child (less than four I would say). The seat had no backrest or support. Your 21 month old would not like it.

I also had a side by side. Two major problems with this - first side by sides do not easily fit through doors or stores. I fought with it all of the time. Second, once my son got older, the kids fought - poking, hitting, etc.

I gave the Graco's test run but my daughter could not get out of the backseat very easily on her own.

Good luck!

While it is kinda heavy, I still love my Maclaren twin techno. It is not too wide for shopping (isles can be so narrow!)and steers very well. The side handle makes it easy to move when folded-try it out first at the store though. Good luck!

Hi!

I use the sit n' stand for my two boys. Works well. Sized more like a regular stroller - rather than a side by side double.

Good luck!

I had a great double stroller made by graco...I got it at Toys R Us years ago. I used it for 4 years and passed it along to a friend, she used it for about 3 years and passed it along again...you can't beat all that use for $120!! It was easy to use, not too heavy, had a great basket that ran the entire length of the stroller. I would put my oldest in front and the baby in the back (the back seat laid down totally flat which was great when they were tiny! Congrats and Best wishes.

Have you looked at a tandem stroller - I would research them in Babies R Us or their website b/c you'd need a stroller that can accommodate a baby carrier for your infant. I have twins and when they were old enough, I had the Peg Perego side by side which I LOVED b/c it was lightweight and folded completely flat, but your infant couldn't be in that type of stroller yet. Good luck - I know how frustrating finding the right stroller could be.

2 friends have the Phil and Ted's sport double. http://www.philandteds.com/nz/sportdouble_07_1.htm
Pricey but they love it and I am jealous! We have an older Baby Trend sit'n stand XL, like the concept, but it's heavy and hard to steer.

Hello. I have a 23 month old and an 8.5 month old. We have a kolcraft Universal Tandem stroller. It's great, the back seat reclines and fits most infant car seats. Your older child would sit up front. Then when your yonger child is old enough, usually around 6 months, they can sit in the back seat by themselves. It's so easy to use, pushing, and navagating stores are great. It's a lot easier to get in and out of store doors than a side by side stroller. It's fairly light too. I have a Dodge Durango and I'm small, only 5'1" and 100lbs., and I have no problem lifting it. We got ours at Kmart for around $70. I hope this helps.

I have the phil & ted's E3 with the doubles kit. They are expensive and can only be bought online, but are worth it. We bought ours from baby bungalow. Their customer service is excellent. This stroller is unique in that both seat are in a line and not side by side. It has great mobility (I feel smug going through doors pushing it while other who caould have helped are watching). Storage is minimal, but you can get accessories to help if you really want it. I personally never needed more storage. The best part of this stroller is that everything comes on and off easily. We have had ours for 2 years and it is perfect. I have a friend whose stroller is still good as new and hers has been through 3 kids and she is happy her fourth will use this stroller as well. Again this is expensive, but worth every cent. Hope this helps and good luck!

I bought my double stroller from ebay and was totally happy with it- it was one of those jogging stroller kinds. "In line" or something. I tried one of those train- style double strollers- you know- one seat in front of the other, and found it cumbersome. And umbrella strollers were not sturdy enough for all the strolling I did. Good Luck, C..

It depends on where you plan on using the stroller. I live in the city so I find you need a more SUV type stroller to deal with the bumps. I loved the Phil & Teds with a newborn, since the baby can be fully reclined with the toddler up front. When the baby gets older, he/she will not want to lay down. The front/back seat with the Phil & Ted's was fine for a while but you end up losing basket space when there's feet in the basket. We now use the double Bob Revolution Duallie, which I love. It's probably too heavy and bulky for suburban life, but for the city it's great. You can push two kids with one hand and drink a coffee. I also have a double Maclaren, which I hate, but still use just when we need to take a road trip. You have to push with both hands, the seats are very small, and the kids can get ejected if not strapped in and you hit a small bump.

Stay away from the "jeep" one. My husband insisted on it when we had our second. If we used it 5 times because of how lousy it was, it would be a miracle. Because the older child goes in the front it is VERY difficult to steer.

Good luck!

Hi K.! When I was shopping for a double stroller I was also concerned about the size and weight of the stroller because I am only 5'/115# and didn't want to fight with a huge stroller that I couldn't lift. I also knew that I wanted a front/back instead of a side-by-side. I went with the Graco Duo Glider. My 19m daughter loves it because she can jump in and out of the seat on her own; this is important to her when we attend our stroller fitness classes. I love that both seats have a cup holder and snack tray, they both recline, it has a parent cup holder, and the basket is a good size. I should also mention that when my daughter is strapped in she cannot get out on her own although she tried her hardest!

We used the Sit and Stand stroller. It seemed to be the lightest double stroller around, even though when both kids are on, it can get heavy and can be hard to maneuver in tight situations but I think that will be the case for using any double stroller. It is also a little shorter than other doubles.
Good luck!
