Hello! I am seeking advise/information on anyone who has possible work from home information. Here is my situation. I had a beautiful baby boy who just turned one and when I had him I quit my job as an accountant. I started working for a small company as a contractor doing trascribing which I could do from home as much or as little as I needed. So I have been transcribing for a year now. Here's the problem: when payday comes around (once a month) I get paid usually about a week and a half to two weeks late. This is money that my husband and I count on and usually puts us in a bind whenever I don't receive it on time. I would say in the past year that probably 90% of my checks I have received late. I would love to stay working at home as I also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and don't want them to go to daycare. Does anyone have any other avenues I could look into that they think might be helpful?

What can I do next?

I telecommute doing bookeeping now. I just go in and pick up the paperwork 1 or 2 times a week and use gotomypc.com to dial in. I have done this with a couple of companies. Check with local CPA's to see if they know anyone who needs help. also check out www.wahm.com/forum for different ideas. I have telecommuted for 3 years now and love it.

Since you worked previously as an accountant, why don't you check with local CPA's in your area to see if they would let you work from home for them? I guess they wouldn't let you take client files home, so that may not be the best solution. Also, you might check with other types of small companies or even run an ad on Mammasource or Craigslist about doing personal bookeeping for busy families, senior citizens, etc. This may be hard to complish with two little ones, but it's an idea.
