I was just wondering if any of you mom's out there have had your young daughters vaccinated with this new Gardasil HPV vaccine? I have been doing research and am trying to get all the information on it that I can, good and bad, so that I can make a good decision for my daughter who is 17. Any good, bad or indifferent would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

My daughters are still too young for the vaccine, but I intend to talk to my doctor about it when they do come of age. There are risks with every vaccine you take, (many have died from getting their Tetanus booster) but weigh all the pros and cons, talk to doctors, and make an informed decision based on all the facts.
As another poster said, you can't control what her future husband is doing now. And I also believe that no matter how well you raise your child, you don't always know they are making the right decisions. I was raised very well, in church, and knew that abstinence until marriage was the right way to go. But I didn't wait, and neither did the man I married. And if I get one more abnormal pap, I will be tested for HPV. It is a very scary thought.

I spoke to my daughters doctor and he made that statement that has stuck in my mind. "you can raise your daughter to do the right thing by abstaining until married, but you can't control what her husband did in his past." It really has made me think more about it. I suggest making an appointment with her doctor and get all of your concerns and questions out in the open. Also the vaccine does not work if the patient is/was already sexually active.

this is my view on the situation.
It is such a new vaccine and the people suposed to keep us safe from harmful drugs and toxic LEAD has proven itself to be unreliable.

People are allowed to put things on the market before extensive testing.
Example: There were vaccines recalled this year. Not for that paticular one, as far as I know. However I am saying It is still way to new for me to give to my child even if she was old enough.

I would think about the length of time that it has been given and wait for further results. I would wait at LEAST a year or so. They just recalled Rotavirus vaccine sometime before april due to Newly vaccinated infantsreportedly beening admitted with life-threatening twisting of the intestines.

So please keep this in mind. The world is a very imperfect place and They will opt to make a dollar before they bother to discover it is harming you.

This is the most startling info I found online. Good luck.

Here is one more site about vaccines:

Inform yourself, and think is it really necessary? If so, then go ahead. But it you read all this information and it weighs more than the odds of your daughter contracting anything.. then, I would trust in the lord.

God Bless,
