Hello,

I do best but still not very good on ebay and facebook. Does anyone have an idea on where I can sell my products? I just made a website about a month ago but I havnt sold anything off there. I even have a sticker on my car with my website..
Thanks

I used to do this, although I did not make enough money to make it worth it. It was more for the fun of it. However, I did best selling at the farmer's market. There were several other hair accessory booths and the ones that got the most traffic had a LOT of merchandise, a lot of variety and big displays. They had deals like "buy 2 get 1 free". You could look into the farmer's market, craft fairs and the like. I also see a lot of this kind of merchandise at consignment stores (like Kid to Kid or Plato's Closet), hospital gift shops, craft boutiques, locally owned grocery stores and hair salons. I would suggest talking to their management to see if they are willing to buy from you to sell in their shops.

Do you have any kids' clothing consignment or 2nd hand stores around? I have seen some really cute displays in the ones around here, and if I had a girl I would probably have bought a few. What about kids' salons?

Do you have a free local yard sale site that you could post pictures of your bows with a link back to your website? See if there is a flee market or homemade craft booth store in town, where you can put your bows there to sell personally, plus put your website for special orders.

Go to private children's shops and see if they will let you put some on display.

I see personal items on display at the local Mailboxes ETC and places like that all the time.

Do you have an HOA? Our HOA has a website and you can advertise on it.

PTA groups sell advertising for their yearly directories.. great economical way to advertise to a target group.

Festivals and craft fairs have people set up with their work.

Get involved in preschool and school silent auctions, fundraisers, etc.

Word of mouth

Good luck.

I suggest going to Cheer, Dance, Gymanstic Studios and asking the owners if you can cut a deal with the members, esp Cheer Gyms! In addition I would find boutique stores and find out if they will sell them as well. Be prepared to take a hit at first but once they sell you will not feel a thing!

If you do more adult hair accessories as well I would not mind taking a look myself - I LOVE a good hair accessory.

Try a child's boutique.

My daughter gets her haircut at a little children's boutique. Everytime I am there I buy a bow or a headband with a bow.

I even saw bows at the grocery store the other day.

Craft shows. There is a woman here who makes only hair bows for girls and she makes enough income from traveling to craft shows in the south to live off of. Try a few shows and see how your sales go. You might want to just stick to the bows and not the necklaces, wipe cases at first so you have a target market. If bows are as big in Texas for little girls as they are here in SC, you should do fine! Good luck!

now is the time to sign up for the craft fairs in the fall - lots of churches have them and many shopping centers do. Spend the time to call them and get a calendar out because many will be on the same day. There is a huge one off 290 at a civic center, can't think of the name of it - maybe off Tealgue road???? I have another friend who goes to preschools and MDO and sets up a table as well as at Elementary and middle schools - (mostly they're for the teachers though at the elem & middle schools). You might want to talk to Jr. Highs and High Schools and see if they have a school store, especially if you make them in the schools' colors or with their mascot. Many schools have "fairs" as their fundraisers and would love to have you set up a booth.

try going around to small mom and pop shops in your area and see if they will carry them for you.
I make some items and they are sold in a child's resale shop in a main downtown area and I get pretty good business because people love to accessorize what their children are wearing.
Call around!

Maybe this needs to be your hobby and you need a different job. Are you good at answering questions when people ask you about what you are taking that you lost weight, have extra energy and feel really healthy? I have tried to sell a lot of stuff and nothing has brought in this kind of money, not to mention the above listed bonuses! Everyone needs to lose weight, get more energy, or get healthier. I am so excited to sell something that everyone needs. Of course, they don't all buy, but that's okay. Some still refer their friends to me. Most of my customers have given me referrals. I am blown away by how impressed everyone is by the quality and the effectiveness of the products. And we have the endorsement of many unpaid professional athletes. Let me know if you are interested.

As others have suggested, craft fairs are the best way to go to get your name out there. A friend of mine sells bows also and her business has really taken off just from traveling around to different shows. She and her husband also put a lot of work into their web design, bags, gift tags, business cards and signage. It looks very professional. She has also gotten in with several boutiques around town that sell her accessories in their shops. She has a page set up on facebook and promotes it that way with product pictures, sales and drawings for customers. Last I heard she was going to expand into making hair bows for pets and see if vet clinics would sell them at their offices. Good luck!

Zulily.com sells alot of mom inspired/smaller business items. I'm not sure how you'd go about getting on there but it be worth contacting them. The website is geared towards babies, children, and women. I've bought plenty of bows and accessories on there.

Have you tried a flee market? Or a consignment shop. Or if you know somebody who works in a small retail establishment, maybe ask them to see if you can put a few of your things in their shop or at least some sort of advertisement?
