I've heard horrible things about video monitors, but would love one as my new baby will share a room with my 2 year old and I'd like to make sure my 2 year old doesn't try anything! Anyone had any luck?

I LOVE my summer video monitor! I have tried many other ones but this is the best! Although, I know your house can make a difference. One of my friends could only use the Mobi one in her home. But I say try the Summer one first!

We have this one. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3191958. It is the top of the line. We tried 2 or 3 other's & found things we didn't like with each (monitor too small, static or noisy etc.) & ended up deciding that this was just going to have to be one of the things that we buy that is an investment.
My daughter will be one in 2 weeks. We used a regular monitor for the first few months of her life & eventually decided that if we could see her that we would save ourselves some sleep. That is correct. Once we could see her we were able to tell by her whines or crys which ones needed our attention & which ones she would be able to work thru herself. Without a video monitor, we wouldn't have been able to do this thus going in to often, especially as she got older 6 months on-when she was supposed to be able to soothe herself. Anyhow I have to go if you want more info send me a message. Great investment!

I love our Summer infant monitor with the big LCD screen. I recommended it to my friend who had a baby last year and she just thanked me again yesterday for it!

I thought about getting a video monitor when my 2nd was born, but a friend had the "Summer" brand and it would pick up the neighbors house all the time. We were eating dinner at their house and we could actually see the neighbors putting their baby to sleep in their underwear. Our friends knew the people and said they lived about 5 house down. That creeped me out knowing someone else could pick up my house and watch my child. The police department said there have been cases of burglars and pedophiles using monitors to watch children or figure out the schedule of your day by watching the monitors. I know it sounds creepy and many of my friends have video monitors and seem to like them, but I wouldn't feel comfortable after what I saw. I also wouldn't trust my 2 year old in my newborns room without watching her either. My loving 2 year old is always giving my newborn blankets, toys and pacifiers.

We had the Safety First Baby Video Monitor. I worked well. We could see and hear her in her room for the whole 6 hrs she slept in her room (That would be in her entire life and she'll be 8 in a week!)

We liked it.
