I am considering enrolling my 4 year old daughter in the First Learning preschool program (Tues/Thurs classes) at First Baptist Church in McKinney. Does anyone have any feedback (good or bad) with this program? Also, are there any specific teachers that you liked? Thanks!

My oldest now 8 went 3 years in the First Steps Program which is the MW program. He ended up doing the 4 day pre-k program also & they were great! He knew above & beyond what he needed to when he started kindergarten. They taught him to read & he is now in 2nd grade but reads on a much higher level.

My 3 yr. old & 4 yr. old go there now. We have always been w/ the MW program but the T/TH program is awesome also. Both directors Carrie w/ the MW & Florene w/ the T/TH program are both great. I will say that I am a little biased because I am a teacher there but I am a teacher there because it is such a wonderful school that I couldn't think of a better place to work.

If you are interested contact them asap because there is usually a waiting list.

Good luck!

Hi C.,

I may be a biased, because I'm a teacher in this program, but I feel it's one of the best around.. My daughter started in the program when she was 2 (she's now 4 and will be in the 4 day program) and I was so impressed that I wanted to work there. My 3 yr old son also attends the T/TH classes.. We follow a faith-based curriculum and this year will be incorporating the TEKES into our lesson plans.. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Florene West, our director.. Good luck with your decision..

My daughter is about to enter her 3rd year at First Steps (M/W program) there, and we love it! Her teachers have been great, and she's really learned a lot. A lot of the teachers are the same on T/Th, and the curriculum is the same, so I'm sure T/Th is wonderful as well.

I don't have any personal experience with First Baptist however almost all of my friends have their kids enrolled in the school. They love it!! One of my very good friends through MOPS is a teacher there and she is fabulous!! I think that you'll be very pleased if you decide to enroll your daughter there. We actually sent our daughter to Concordia Christian Academy (our saviour luthern church) and we loved it as well. I think both schools offer a loving, Christian learning environment. Good luck with your decision!

I have read all the responses and I overall agree. I had my 3 yr. old in the T/TH class last year and we are moving to the M/W class due to some issues we ran into during last year. Obviously, they were not serious enough to move her totally out of the program. Florene has 25+ years experience and Carrie is just awesome!! I used to be a preschool director and I do trust them with one of my most precious possessions. Good luck & I don't think you will be sorry for putting them in FBC's care.

We've had both of our girls there since 2006 and have loved it. My oldest just graduated this spring, so I'll just have one there this year (she's 2). We attended First Learning-the T/TH class. Florene is wonderful, dedicated, and compassionate. All of our teachers have been top-notch. The facility is immaculate, and I've never questioned our decision to place our girls in their care.

My 4 year old son is starting his second year at First Steps (Monday/Wednesday at FBC-McKinney) and loves it. Our family can't say enough great things about the program. Many of my friends have their children enrolled in the First Learning at FBC-McKinney and are very happy.

First Learning is AMAZING! My daughter started in the two day a week program at 15 months old. This will be her 3rd year to go there and I just love it and so does she. My daughter cannot wait to get up and go to school. They have a curriculum that they follow and everyone is very friendly, helpful and kind. Florene who organizes the program is always so polite and eager to help with whatever you need. I promise that you will not be disappointed putting your daughter in the program!
