Any Experience with Once upon a Child

Does anyone have any experience with Once Upon a Child in Omaha or any others? I am thinking about selling some clothes to them, but I have heard some negative things. Is it true that they do not give much for name brand clothing? And is it better to sell the on Craigslist? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

I have no experience with ONce upon a child. BUt I noticed that you are looking for winter coats and pants. The OPMC (Omaha Parents of Multiples) sale is coming up 9/20 starting at 10 AM. That is a great place to find gear (clothes, toys, and misc furniture.)

Good luck!

I don't like to sell my clothes to them either. They don't pay a thing. In fact... I put clothes on ebay and sold them in "lots" by name brands and made almost 40% of what I spent. I take very good care of my kids clothes so they were in near new condition.

I did sell with them about a year or so ago. They do pay awful. I bet your lucky if you get $1.00 $1.50 for a name-brand outfit. Very picky also. But do remember you don't have to do any work except drop it off and they go thru it. I have not sold with them since and have done a garage sale (where I made almost $600.00) but that is a lot of work. For shopping they are great though and very reasonable. There is also a consignment sale starting next week here in Omaha called Take2 that is really good. Good luck

I have mixed feelings about them. I took in a landry basket full of nice infant clothes - they took 3 Baby Gap outfits (one had been worn only once) and gave me just over $14 for them - which I felt was fair, but equally cute and hardly worn outfits (about 20) were rejected simply because they weren't name brand. I sold the rest of the clothes as a lot on Craig's List for $45. It took a few weeks for them to sell, but it was so easy to list everything!

I will probably not bother with lugging my next round of clothing or anything else there (we're happy with the size of our family and are selling things off as the youngest outgrows them). Although I felt I got a fair price for the 3 items, the customer service was HORRID. The gal there actually made me feel bad about bringing them my clothes as if the outfits I loved and thought were adorable were hideous!

If you do go through them, make sure all your clothes are in a lanudry basket or a plastic tub and aren't wrinkeled - they are very particular about wrinkeled clothes! Be prepared to wait at least an hour before you find out what (if anything) they are taking!

Best of Luck!

I have not had good experiences with Once Upon A Child either. They offered me a very small amount for all the clothes that I brought to them. I also took in a 6 piece crib bedding set that is in brand new condition. They offered me $10 for it!! When I was looking on their shelf at bedding sets they had for sale, they were selling them for $60-$90! It was a bit of a slap in the face but I wasn't sure if that was just the going rate. So I decided to take it to Children's Treasures which is out at the Gretna Outlet Mall. It is also a children's consignment store. The guy that owns it was very very nice (unlike the staff at Once Upon A Child) he told me that he doesn't really like to give bids on bedding because it is not something that sells well but that he would look it over and see what he could do. He offered me $30 for it! I think that is a HUGE difference from the $10 Once Upon A Child offered. Although I decided to hold off and try selling it on Craigslist. Which was actually a suggestion from the owner of Children's Treasures. That has been my experience with Once Upon A Child. I have never been impressed with the people that work there, they are never very helpful or friendly and I have not been happy with the bids they have given me on things. I will be taking my business elsewhere for sure!

I have heard some negative things about the store in Lincoln, but the store in Omaha has been ok in my personal experience. I have not tried to sell clothes to them, but have purchased clothes and a bassinet from them. I have been pleased with the quality of products and customer service so far.
