If he has the wireless card in his computer do i need anything else to get his internet going? I don't know if i need another router for his room or what.. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks so much

1. If you want to make it wireless, yes you will need to card.

2. Only one router is needed.

3. If you are connecting wirelessly, go to Network Connections and search for your network. You will most likely need a network key, call your phone company for that info, to completely connect to the internet. Also, you need to have a version of Internet Explorer already installed on the computer to access the internet.

It really is not that difficult. If you have any problems, most phone companies or internet providers help people over the phone free of charge. Hopefully you have one of them.

Or you can call me and I may be able to help you.

It is my understanding that each home only needs one router...the wirless card in the computer is needed. If you are having trouble still, you my need to check the computer settings....I hope this helps...

I emailed my hubby and asked him to respond ... below is his email back to me (he's the computer expert in the house):

If she already has a wireless router in her house, then all she needs is the card in the desktop. A wireless router can allow something crazy like 50 computers to connect if they all have cards. I'm assuming this is a wireless router even though she doesn't specifically say so.

Hope that helps! ;)

You are good to go with the computer. One router should do it (unless your house is huge or has strange walls) for your laptop and his pc.

As long as his room isn't farther away than the router can send the signal (some can send it farther than others) and as long as it's a wireless router, all you should need is the wireless card in his computer. We have two desktop computers. One is hooked directly to the connection via the router, and the other runs on a wireless card and sits in the opposite corner of the house. That's the only hardware we have, so that should be all you need.

No, nothing else is needed. Hook up both modems in his room (wireless router and internet modem) and use your wireless card to connect your laptop to the network. Make sure you protect your network using WPA which is better (as an opinion) than WAP. Question what type of wireless router and card are you using i.e. Linksys, NetGear? If Linksys I may be able to help you get everything connected and running easily. Let me know.....

May I suggest that you many not want to hook up the computer in his room? It is better to have it out in the open where you can monitor what he is doing. Even good kids can get on websites you would rather them not. There are too many predators out there. Just a thought.

Hi S.!

My name is J. Edwards, I live in Blountville. I am a techno junkie, as my husband likes to call me. If you live close by, and have trouble, I could come over and have you up and running in no time. Your laptop being wireless has no bearing on his signal, by the way. My number is ###-###-#### if you want to call me we can trouble shoot.

Have a great day. I don't envy you returning to work. I remember when I had to do that with baby number 2, glad I never did it again!

Hello. Is it RoadRunner and do you have the disk to set it up?

If it is RoadRunner they should of came out and set it up. They will stick you around if you don't stay on them. When mine was set up the man didn't have the wireless card and told me he would bring it back...well guess what I was charged for something I never received and had to go round and round with them. Stay on it gurl.
