Any Advice on a Double Stroller?

I have a 20 month old daughter and am expecting our 2nd, a boy, December 4th. I am having trouble deciding what kind of double stroller to buy. I really don't like the idea of having to buy a new infant car seat to be compatible with whatever stroller I decide on, as they are quite expensive. However, I just want a good quality stroller, preferably one that will allow my oldest in the front and by newborn in the infant seat in the back, to be able to see me. I was thinking about the Graco Quattro Tour Duo Tandem Stroller in Rittenhouse with the Snugride 32 infant car seat. Does anyone else have this stroller? It got good reviews. I currently have an Eddie Bauer single stroller with the matching infant car seat. Any tips, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

In general, I think two year olds should walk. My kids were able to walk pretty long distances at that age. I did not want them to get used to being pushed around all the time.

Or, if you need the stroller for your older child, just keep using your current stroller and wear your baby.

Actually, I'd recommend wearing the baby most of the time anyway.

I have the Graco Quattro Tour Duo for my 2 1/2 year old and 3 month old boys. I LOVE it! I was so hesitant to buy a double stroller because I didn't know what to buy, but I am very happy with my selection. It steers easier than any other stroller we own (we have a few, my husband thinks I'm obsessed...all for different things, though)and folds up quite compactly for a double. I love all of the storage and my son loves that he can climb in it by himself (there is no bar across the front seat). It is a bit heavy, but I don't think it's too bad for simple lifting in and out of the car. I wouldn't want to carry it a long distance but cannot think of one situation where I would need to. Also, it does not fit in the trunk of my mom's car (a small sedan), but I think she has an unusually shallow trunk.

We also bought the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem stroller at babies R Us. Love it! Get lots of comments on it. Love the versatility of the seating arrangements. We ahve a 6 month old in a Grace car carrier, a 21 month old and a 4.5 year old. You can find them on sale there and can use a coupon to make it more reasonably priced.

Good luck.

I have the Graco Quattro Tour Duo for my 2-1/2-year-old and 4-month-old. I LOVE it!!! I have been very happy with everything about it. It's easy to open, push, and fold up. Yes, it's kinda heavy- any double stroller will be- but it's totally manageable.

M.,
My little guy is 2 and he will have a baby brother by the end of September. I decided on the Sit n Stand stroller, made by Baby Trend. The attachment for an infant seat will fit any of the major brands of infant seat, and the bench in the back will accommodate your almost 2 year old. The bench in the back does have a strap so you can strap her in if you want, or let her choose to sit or stand in the stroller. If you want her to have an actual seat (like one that she can nap in), then this would not be the stroller for you, but if she's big on choices, it's a great idea. I found mine on Craigslist for $20, which is an absolute steal. It's an older model, though, so that's why it was so cheap. You can find newer ones for good prices. I would also suggest looking at Craigslist for the Graco Quattro if that's what you decide upon, because you can find strollers in great shape for much less than they are new.
Good luck!

We went with the sit and stand plus which has a backseat for my oldest and when he gets older I can switch it into the sit or stand option. My oldest was 16 months when our new addition was born and I thought this would be the best option for us because we did not want to buy another car seat and the baby trend sit and stand can grow with him. It folds up really really nice and can fit it my truck without a problem. I would check it out. I bought mine off the target website.

We purchased the Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem stroller (you can find it at http://www.kolcraft.com/product.aspx?id=149&shopby=ca.... Same sort of situation. Our infant seat that we had for our first, who will be 18 months when his little brother is born in September, is still in great shape. The problem is that it is an Evenflo carseat ant they don't make a good double stroller. The Kolcraft stroller is only $220 and is sold at Babies R Us...you can even get a 15% off coupon if you sign up for their emails (they send coupons all the time). If they don't carry it at your store they can order from the store and ship to the store...saving you shipping and handling from ordering online. This stroller comes with a universal carseat attachment. Plus, the stroller seats can be adjusted to face backwards, frontwards or any combination of that. And..the stroller has a very heavy duty construction similar to a jogging stroller. My husband has already used it with our son to go jogging, walk on trails, etc. It doesn't "shake" like the normal everyday stroller would. There is also a big basket underneath to store all of your mommy stuff. It is a bit heavier than a traditional single stroller...but for a double stroller what do you expect?!?! I can still lift it just fine at 8 months pregant (and I definitely don't work out). There are a couple of ways to fold it down to get it more compact. It fits in the trunk of our Camry with plenty of room to spare for groceries, suitcase, etc. Good luck!

I have that exact combo of stroller and carseat. i got mine because i have twins and it was on of only 2 0r 3 strollers that snapped in two carseats. I read a lot of bad reviews on it too but bought it anyway. I love mine. especially since the basket on the bottom goes up and down and is very large. i can even fit the canopy for the front in the basket and i keep it there so i can get it out if i need it since i find it annoying to have it on all the time.

also the handles are awesome cuz since they have the bars that come up you can hang your purse and diaper bag over them and i even put shopping baskets on them when i shop alone with my twins.

also i would like to add that mine got backed over by my grandmas pick up truck and survived very well. i had to pay 30 bucks for a few new parts but it works great still! the only thing i like to warn ppl about with this stroller is that it is heavy. i don't have any trouble with it but it weighs around 50 pounds i think so if you are petite it could be hard to lift. i would make sure you can pick it up before you buy it!

good luck
