Yep, sorry ladies, I'm asking the question that will probably be asked by many other before the big Christmas!

I can't think of anything to get my 6 year old son. What are your suggestions? Thanks for any ideas!! I usually love Christmas shopping but for some reason this year it's becoming a bit more of a chore. :-)

What can I do next?

My 6 year old son is getting an electric guitar and amp for his big gift this year. He'll also get the standard two pairs of PJ's, two new outfits, new shoes, an ornament, and a few toys he has pointed out.

My 4 year old will get the same standard gifts with a drum set as his big gift, shiny red ones! His favorite color :).

My 8 year old will also get the same standard gifts, and her big gift will be a 2 parter, she has been asking for an American Girl doll, so that is part 1. She will also get a Papasan chair for her room. Those together equal the price range of the boys gifts, and will give the same presentation.

Last year we did a big joint gift of an air hockey table, a real 7 ft one with the score keeper, blue lights, and all...it was used from Craigslist for $250! I want to get them a foos ball table too, but we'll save that for next year.

Do you get a toys r us or target flyer in the mail? I have the kids circle what they want. I also let them know is ok to want everything, but they won't get everything they want. I also use the websites to have them pick things out. I like to get a lot of suggestions so they really don't know what they are getting.

Books! There is a great series called "David Gets In Trouble" about this uber messy, loud, rambunctious, Calvin-type little boy who does bad things like goes to school w/o his pants, or drops koolaid on the white floor, but in the end he learns his lesson and let's his mom know. Perfect for young boys.

I got a book for my 6 yo when the school year ended last year. Its called "What I Love About You" and its a journal type where you as the mom answer questions about your kid or tell stories. Each page has a different prompt "When I first saw you I thought you were..." and "If you were a superhero, your name would be..." and "A story I tell about you over and over again is...."....and then you just fill in the blanks. Its great and my 6 yo LOVES it and keeps wanting to take it to school with him.

My son recently got a whoopie cushion and a harmonica for his bday. Those are one of his treasured possessions.

My 7 year old son is begging for a DS. He is also begging for an electric train set. He also really really wants legos, more legos and spy gear (sold at Target). He also likes nonfiction kids books on things like natural disasters and science. He also wants Heelys (those shoes with the wheels on the bottom) and a magic kit. Whew! He wants way too much stuff and makes lists!

I am in the same boat....My kids don't need anything. I am going to buy some more underwear, pajamas, slippers and shoes. They can always use an extra pair of sneakers. Dollar store stocking stuffers..Does your son like painting, crafts, coloring??? My kids are still into the art sets at 4 and 6. Going to get some of those as well.

My 5 year old is getting a leapad he already has games from his leapster explorer and they will work with the new leapad, which is like an ipad for kids from leapfrog. It has great reviews.

He also likes a lot the new line of "agents" from Playmobil

Legos are always great, great gifts, all kids love them.

My son is 5 1/2, so he's a little bit younger than yours. He is madly in love with the new Skylanders Spyro's Adventure game!!! The game is available for Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, and the Nintendo 3DS. We got him the Xbox 360 version for Christmas. We have been buying all the characters bit by bit since the October release. He has every character memorized and goes on the skylanders.com website everyday to watch the character videos. It really is an awesome game! I think my husband and I are just as excited about it as he is! Even our 8yr old daughter seems interested. It looks like it's going to be a great game our family will enjoy playing together. They had the Wii version set up at our local Toys R Us this past Saturday and he got to actually play the game for a while. He ADORED it! If your son likes video games, you should have him check it out. =0)
Santa is bringing our kids each a Nintendo 3DS and a couple games (and the fantastic NERF indestructable cases!!). They love playing that, too!
Our son is also getting the Star Wars Ultimate FX Lightsaber, and a lava lamp. He has been asking for a lava lamp for quite some time now and I finally found a really cool one online.
We will also give each kid a My Way Spinbrush (if you go online to their website, you can get a $2 off coupon) for their stockings and probably a DVD.
Other than those things that we've already gotten, he has asked for more DaGeDar battle balls, Trash Packs, Ninjago Lightning Dragon, the Uno Roboto game, the shark air swimmer and a remote control spider (??).
Hope some of that gives you new ideas to check out! Good luck!!! =0)

I just bought a Discovery Kid's Teach and Talk Exploration Laptop for my 8 year old niece. It says for ages 6+. It looks really cool! It says that it has 60 discovery activities and games in different categories like Wild Nature - Solar System - Inventions - Geography and music.

I found it at Bed Bath and Beyond for $19.99 plus I had a 20% off coupon. I was surprised to come home, look it up and find it's going for much higher at other stores.
