Another Contact Lense Question, Please Help

Ok hopefully this will be my last question about contacts but I really need some help. I've been wearing my contacts on and off now for a week and I can see perfectly far away but everything up close is hard to focus on. It feels like I'm straining my eyes to see close now. Yesterday I wore them to work and I have to look at a computer screen a lot so by the time I got home my eyes were sore and I had a little bit of headache. The screen isn't 4 inches from my face anymore, so it's not like it was too close.
I went into my Dr's and he did some vision tests and had me try another pair that's slightly weaker in prescription. So I'm wearing those now and I'd say maybe they're a little better but still I feel like I'm straining to focus up close, especially reading on computer screens.
So is this something my eyes will adjust to? A lady told me at work that's what it is. Does it take this much time? Maybe I'm not helping because I take them on and off? I just like to be able to read stuff on my iPhone and iPad without having to try to focus or hurt my eyes. Should I just keep trying? Please tell me your experience with this, I go back on Friday to let the Dr. know how they are, and he said it's normal to have to try a few times to get them right, but I'd just like to hear other's experiences with having difficulty focusing up close.
Oh also he did tell me I'm probably too young for the thing that happens with your eyes in your 40's and 50's where it's hard to see up close and you need reading glasses, plus it isn't hard for me to focus up close with my eye glasses on.

What can I do next?

You might ask about multi focal lenses. Also, a lady I work with has a contact in one eye for stuff far away and a contact in the other eye for close things. Definitely keep trying. Some people have to go through a few prescriptions and/or brands before it works for them.

Hmm. Did you tell your doc that you are having this problem?
I have one contact in my dominant eye that is for reading up close, the other contact is to see far away. Sometimes I have to close my eye that has the weaker contact in it so I can read something AFTER a long day, I'm doing paperwork and on the computer for my entire day at work.
Seeing the computer screen is fine, but I do struggle a bit with my iPhone or reading small print on paper.
I've considered just wearing contacts for my far vision and possibly going to readers (glasses) for doing paperwork... but havent made that choice as of yet. I do see paperwork better with my prescription glasses tho.

I have terrible vision and bad astigmatism.. I tried every soft lens out there with my perscription and I tried Gas permiables and no luck with any of them.

Soft lenses I felt like I was living in a fish bowl my eyes were always watery and gas permiables bothered me when it was dark cause my eyes would dialate larger then the lense was...

So at only 28 years old I am stuck with either glasses or lasik and I am unwilling to do lasik so I enjoy my glasses.

Sorry about this, but third time - ask him if you can try NON-toric lenses. I really think that you need to make sure that this isn't the issue for you. As it is, these lenses are not the right ones for you. If you aren't far-sighted because of age, then this shouldn't be happening, and it's because of the contacts.

I've worn contacts for over 30 years. I know you aren't supposed to have this problem.
