I see lots of entertainers advertised in local magazines who will come to your home with their creatures/animals to entertain the kids. Any recommendations?

Lonesome Longhorns in the Fort Worth area has great pony rides. We used them for our school festival and kids of all ages loved riding on the ponies as they walked around the carousel. I do believe she travels with the ponies. Go to lonesomelonghorns.com. She also does pictures with her very sweet longhorn.

The Creature Teacher is a good one, and advertises in local magazines such as Dallas Child. She has done a program at our elementary school for several years now, and the kids always love it.

I can be of service. *smile*
I am "Kangaroo Kate"
I have a petting zoo and pony ride business
and can also offer face painting or balloon animals.
I come to your location.
Your daughter is the perfect age for this kind of
entertainment! You can NEVER go wrong having a
pony at a party! I find adults at most parties
enjoy the petting zoo as much or more sometimes than
the kids do! I want to also comment on one of the
replies I saw from warning about the petting zoo extra
charge... that was awful!!
ask questions lots of questions.. if someone is reputable
they will not mind the questions... make sure WHAT they
are bringing for the money! For the record.. our average
petting zoo has LOTS of rabbits, I find kids and adults
love rabbits. I typically bring around 10+ rabbits, and
goats, ducks, getting new baby chicks. When I have the
muscles to carry her a pot belly pig the girl is getting heavy
these days ,I am hoping to get
some patagonian cavies this spring.. that is a very
unique little exotic animal. when it is baby season I may have a joey wallaby with me on the bottle. depends on how soon one is pulled and how soon it is adopted. I have had as many as three with me before for everyone to meet. We also have a deluxe zoo
which includes some larger animals, llama, mini pony, sheep
We try to bring no
less than 15 animals in the average zoo and closer to 25 or
more in the deluxe zoo, all child friendly! We have prices
set for pony ride only or petting zoo only or a combination
fee. AND ask the person you speak with if they are USDA licensed and insured.. some are not! When you go out with
animals you MUST be USDA licensed and not all are insured. also
this is something I tell people to ask about.. do they have a
weight limit on thier pony? I have seen some pony people bring a small pony and put an adult size teen on it..!!! just because it is a horse doesnt mean anyone can ride! horses have weight limits for thier size and build. too much can hurt thier back. If they say no weight limit.. look somewhere else! I have seen some unreputable petting zoo and pony people out there and has made me cringe at what they offered people, like what was told to you in one of the replies. Just wanted to be clear we are not all like that! *smile*
IF your wanting something more exotic I have a friend who does education programs. I used to do them and now refer everyone to allison. she has the most fantastic selection of exotic animals
she can bring to show the kids she is the best in Dallas! You would love her she is very professional and good with the kids. Actually she brings a joey wallaby many times that is mine. I breed wallabies and she takes one of my joeys
each season and ads to her programs until it is larger
to take out. she may bring sydney up to in April or possibly May. wont have any more joeys until in the late fall. Allison / Zooniversity is her name.
If you would like to know more specifics you can check
out my website... www.aircanopy.net/~kangarookate.
am working now on getting that as a kangarookate.com but
not set up yet.
or you can go to zooniversity.com or zooniversity.org I believe is allisons web. or put zooniversity in the search it should come up. or go to my website and there is a link to allisons webpage on there. Feel free to email me also; ____@____.com
also, I know you will want to shop around dont hesitate to email
me and ask me about any of the others you speak with. I know most all the reputable petting zoo and pony people in the metroplex. Most of us are all friends and well aquainted with eachother. But there are some I am not sure about.

My DD was invited to a birthday party featuring The Creature Teacher. I think you can find her on the net or in FW Child Magazine. The bday boy was able to choose the animals he wanted at his party and the kids had SOO much fun. She was great with the kids and very informative as well. She brought with her a Boa, Chinchilla, tarantula, a few other lizards and some others I can't remember. The kids could touch every animal if they wanted, and she let each child hold & have a picture taken with the Boa and the Chinchilla. They LOVED it!! :)

You can't go wrong with the pony rides, but don't fall for the extra charge to have a "petting zoo" as well. Unfortunately, I did this for my daughter's 3rd b-D. party so of course on the invitations I asked the guests to join us for pony rides and a petting zoo. It was so embarassing b/c the gentleman had a couple of ducks and chickens in pens and then he had a rabbit that the kids could pet. For this we were charged an additional $90 on top of the fee for the ponies. FYI: If you do go with the pony rides you could do a My Little Pony theme which is what we did for my daughter and they have tons of great stuff at party city or my brother and his wife had pony rides at my niece's party and they did a flicka theme. Again, they had tons of cute stuff including pink cowgirl hats for all the girls and they said they got it all at Oriental Trading Comp.

My daughter is now 13 but when we had a fall party and she was about 4 we had a company who had a monkey come over. It was a huge hit, I have pics with the monkey and all the kiddos. He was well trained. At the time, I think his name was Jojo which of course is different now.

We also did pony rides which were a big hit. I got my info from the Dallas Child magazine.
