And on a Much Lighter Note.....

Man, I really hate peelin' potatoes. And yet, I peel potatoes ALL the time. And every single time I do it I think, 'Man I HATE peelin' potatoes!'. Giggle to myself and get busy on chopping onions (which oddly doesn't bother me in the least).

So what's the thing YOU hate doing?

:)

What can I do next?

When I was in Varanasi, India, I got to hang out with a (Canadian born) Sadhu. We asked him, "what is the most fulfilling part of your life?" He giggled (really hard) and answered, "today I finished my tube of toothpaste. Finally(!), something complete!"

Anyway, I really like peeling potatoes (and other veggies), 'cause each of 'em feels like something (!) completed.

I. Hate. Doing. Laundry.

I have a mountain. Seriously, a mountain. Everyday I say, "laundry, today is the day you will be washed, folded and put away." The laundry is, for now, winning. Darn.

If you come do my laundry, I'll go peel your potatoes ;-)

Your question! I hate ironing. So much so that I pointed this clearly out to my hubby before we got married. We made a deal that I would do our future kids and he would do his own. Fast forward 6 yrs and we still stick to this deal.

This post made me laugh. I loathe peeling potatoes, I actually throw a fit so my husband will do it. Thank God for simply potatoes in the freezer section.

But I also hate picking up after everyone else in my house. Seriously how hard is it to put a dish in the dishwasher?

I hate cleaning up the mess after I cook. Luckily my husband knows this about me and rescues our kitchen, but continually reminds me of what a messy cook I can be at times.
Peeling potatoes does suck too tho. I quit peeling mine, I make mashed with skins on... they are better for you that way :) But I would never trade fresh potatoes for the instant ones, there is just no comparison.

I don't think I've EVER peeled a potato. We just eat the (well-scrubbed) skins. But I can see how it would be a pain to peel them if you were the peelin' kind.

I don't peel potatoes anymore, I scrub them really good and make mashed with skins...everyone LOVES them! :o)

I hate doing a lot of things and luckily I have a great husband who picks up my slack (he takes out the trash and does all of our laundry (theres 5 of us!).

Something hubby can't help with...I hate calling my mom...yes, my own mother! She complained that I don't tell her stuff (she has to read it on FB!) so then I start to tell her stuff and she tells me to "get over it", cuts me off and doesn't let me say anything and basically doesn't want to hear it!!! UGH!!!

I don't peel potatoes, we only eat them rarely but when we do, I like to slice or section them with their skins on, coat them in olive oil and a little salt and bake them in the oven. yum. I don't mind dishes much or laundry.

I hate picking up and putting away stuff. Toys, books, blankets, all kinds of stuff that seems to fill my floor whenever my daughter is here with me! Oh, and dusting, I hate dusting and hardly ever do it, but then I hate finding dust... Ironing, I haven't ironed a thing in years, I just don't buy anything that might need ironing.

I also hate peeling potatoes. I trained my family to like lumpy mashed potatoes and that solved my problem! I scrub them clean, boil them up and mash them... skins and all! Besides, I was always told growing up that there's lots of vitamins in those peels. ;)

Now when he goes to have dinner at my mother's she always laughs at his requests for "lumpy taters" as it seems he's developed a taste for them.

I hate the dozen times during meal prep that I have to pause to wash my hands. Washing the dishes!!!!!! My number one household chore I loathe and despise. Of course, I live in a house w/o a dishwasher so I have to do them. I don't particularly mind peeling potatoes, but I just don't do it because it seems like a waste of time since nobody in my family minds the peels. I despise matching up socks when folding laundry so I've started making my kids do it. I can go for months without sweeping the cat fur from the corners of the steps which drives my husband nuts so he does it himself. I also don't care for washing dishes, but mostly because it hurts my back, but my oldest is almost 12 so perfectly capable of doing it. Geez, reading over this I sound lazy as can be, huh? I promise I'm not though!!

I'm not very good at peeling potatoes, and I don't enjoy it, but it seems like it doesn't come up much for me anyway. Guess I don't make that much stuff with potatoes :) My husband's fast at peeling them, though.

I don't really mind cleaning house; I like the immediate gratification of a clean, good-smelling house. But it's not as easy to accomplish with other people in the house. When I was single and lived alone, I would just put on some tunes and jam out while I cleaned everything top to bottom. Now, my husband wants to lay on the couch and watch tv while I clean, so no music to keep me motivated, so top-to-bottom cleaning doesn't happen any more, at least not very often. So I guess what I hate is when I can't jam out while I'm cleaning.

I hate picking up "pocket trash". You know... wrappers, labels, receipts, lint, q-tips, floss... little junk that accumulates on tables, counters and whatnot. I don't mind throwing away things... just that little stuff drives me CRAZY. My husband always gets home an empties his pockets and leaves his pocket trash next to his keys on our dresser. It is the littlest, dumbest thing to get irritated about... but it drives me nuts...

In my obituary it will probably say "Loving Mother and Wife... died at age __ after spontaneously combusting... her last words were... "Gosh dang pocket trash!"

hehehe- just kidding.

I don't bother peeling potatoes. All of the vitamins and nutrients are in the skins. When I mash potatoes they're "dirty mashed potatoes" which just means that I wash them (of course) then boil them in chunks and mash them as usual with the skins on. They're not smooth mashed potatoes, of course, but they're still delicious.

I keep the skins on when I roast potatoes or slice them up too for cooking. They hold their shape better and I love a nice crispy skin.

As for what I dislike most in the kitchen... I actually love food preparation. It's washing dishes and used eating utensils that grosses me out. I can't stand touching other people's used eating utensils.

Why do you peel the potatoes? Only take out the bad spots, and eat the rest. Lots of vitamins and minerals and fiber in the skins.

I love onions but tear up now around every kind of onion. It's the pits. And I've tried all the tips: refrigerate them, sharper knife, have not tried the goggles and probably won't.

I hate dusting but love a clean surface.
