Am I Registered?

My husband mentioned that I needed to reregister to vote since we moved. I told him I would just go to the old site which is just a block away. I received a message email saying I may not be registered. My driving licence is in my old address but that is it. Do I need to register and if so how? I missed all of the registration stands because I thought I was registered. Now if I am not I only have six days left to do so. Help, I've got to vote

What can I do next?

I know you're in Missouri, but I'm going to post info for both KS and MO, since I'm sure others have the same question.

You can go to your old voting site and vote if you havent changed your address on your license but DO NOT tell them you moved to a different address. Last time they asked me is this your current address and I said no. They turned me away on election day!!! I was soooo mad! Im not sure I should even be posting this...ooops!

Go get your driver's license changed and they can change your registry there. You are supposed to only have 30 days to change your license anyway. You don't have to retake the test or anything, just prove where you live, since you are in the same state as before. You'll need the regular stuff.. birth certificate, old license, social security card, and proof of residence (electric bill). It's quick and easy. Do it today.. so you can vote. We all need to exercise our right to vote. When my daughter got her license in August, they asked if she wanted to register to vote (she's 18). They did it there.

You can re-register with the County Election Board in your area. If you are in Jackson County that Election Board is in Independence at the square the phone number is ###-###-####. If you know who you are voting for you can also contact their campaign office as most of them will register people to vote (and they maybe closer to your location). The deadline in Missouri is October 8th.

Look in your Phone book for the number for your county office. They can look on their records to see if you are registered. Plus you can go there and fill out a form to get re-registered. My hubby was dropped from the records WHY? We have no idea, he has been registered in our County for 10 yrs and has voted but all of a sudden he wasn't on the records. But we sent off for a form, he filled it out and received his card 2 wks later. SO he couldn't vote in primarys but will be able to in Gen.

But don't wait since you have only 5 days left to be reg. Get on that phone look in Blue pages for your local election or county office's. Find out if you can make the deadline to get on the records since your move..

Molly Your a Hoot, I was laughing cause several people have done that right after a move, so your not alone.. NOT that I have ever done it.. lol
Good Luck J. and HURRY Girl Times a wasting......lol

Yes, you definitely need to re-register when you move. I have been involved in registering people in three different settings, so I know it for sure. Anytime you move you need to re-register. Go to it!

I went to the website www.voteforchange.com and registered. You complete the form and then you print it out, fold it over and mail it in. The address prints out to. You will see when you print it out.

Granted this is a website that Barack Obama has set up for registering. And you will likely get emails from their campaign, but you can unsubscribe to those if you do not want to get them. McCain may have a site as well. But I have no idea. This is the site that is advertised so it is the one that I used. It doesn't ask you about who you are voting for and you don't even have to affiliate with a party on the form if you do not want to. The site is just for registering and it is set-up so wherever you live in the country the site will work.

Not sure where you are from, but for MO you need to do register ASAP! It needs to be in Jeff City by next Wednesday, 10/8.

You can register on-line at http://www.rockthevote.com/rtv_register.html?ms=indexNoPop
and I think Obama's website has an on-line registration link as well. Your state website should also have one. Any DMV can register you as well.

YES!! YES!! YES!!! You do have to vote! You should be able to go to your local courthouse's election office and make a change of address there. You may not be registered for your precinct. Some towns have multiple voting sites and moving, even one block, can affect where you vote. I think you are still registered to vote but if it's not for the correct precinct, you may not be able to do so.

I am pretty sure that if your drivers license still has the address you were previously registered with, that you are still registered there.

I have not lived at the address on my driver licence in 15 years. But I am still registered to vote in that district. As long as your name is on the list you are fine. If you didn't register at your new address you should still be registered at your old one.

I moved last year from one town to another and wasn't sure if I needed to reregister. Then I received a thing in the mail stating where I should now vote and no one said anything about reregistering. I voted in the primaries this summer and had no problem...they didn't even ask to see my ID (it still has my old address because I am too cheap to pay for a new license when mine is set to expire shortly). I would suggest just calling your local city hall and finding out if you need to reregister because if you have changed address'. They should be able to help you out. Good Luck

I'm pretty sure you can still register, I think they said on the news last night that that was why Ms. Obama was in town, to get more people to register, they expect this to be a record vote! I can't remember where you go to register, it seems like the library. You can probably call someone who would know.

You are registered, you just need to change your address. The easiest way is to go online( any site will do - voteforchange.com, rockthevote.com, even Ellen's and Oprah's sites have links) Once you get to a site just follow instructions to chanege address, and you'll get your new card and precinct info within days. Good Luck, and Happy Voting!

Information I received today in an email . . .

"Note that if you are not certain you are registered, particularly if you have moved since you last voted, please spend just a minute to check your registration. You can do this on-line for any Missouri registration at: https://mcvr.mo.gov/voterlookup/

You can also get all sorts of voter info at:

I believe if you move out of county then you are no longer registered to vote. I have to register again too! I didnt realize there was only a few days left though. I'd better get on that. If you just move locations within the county I dont think you have to re-register but Im not for sure.
