C.C. asks from Bakersfield, CA

I have asked twice for help choosing an OB/GYN in Bakersfield. NO ONE has responded to any of them. Are people not seeing my questions or is it the question itself? I am having a really hard time adjusting to living in California, I have no family here and no real friends either, and now, it seems I cant even get help from strangers, who are so willing to comment on everyone else's issues. Thank you MAMAPEDIA moms for a whole lot of nothing!!

So What Happened?

Wow! my bad .....im sorry that one went nation wide.....the others didnt, and i can see all the other questions in bakersfield getting comments, it is just frustrating scrolling down the list of Bakersfield questions and seeing that my questions are the ONLY ones with NO comments. Sorry

I didn't read her remarks as 'angry'. I read them as frustrated. There's a difference.

If you want to read 'angry', look at one of yesterday's about a poster's sister meeting someone online. Now THAT'S angry...

C., hope you find a good gyn!

When you ask a question , do you see a option asking if this question is for a particular area only. You should select that option. I don't live in CA , so I am as clueless as you. Maybe nobody has any recommendations for you - because they don't live there, or they haven't used a OBGYN there. And the people who live there and do have recommendations might not have seen your question.
Try asking a general question (not restricted to your area) and you will have lot of answers. No, people are not partial here. Just wait n watch how many responses you will get for this question. lol. We have not come to a decision to ignore your questions and not help you out. If we know the answer, we will comment on your issues as well! We have nothing against you , promise! :)

Well gee, I live on the other coast. Do you really want MY opinion about a doctor where YOU live?

Didn't think so.

ETA: When you get ready to post your question, there is a box to check if your question is "specific to your area".... did you not see that? There is a reason it is there.

If no one reads your question that is familiar with the area they won't answer.

I live in St Louis, I wouldn't answer your question.

If you stay on here a little while longer you will notice most questions asking about a dr in a certain area do not recieve many responses. It's not that people don't want to help you but there isn't anyone reading questions in Bakerfield that has an answer for you. Please don't take it as if your being ignored. Good luck in finding an OB I'm in TX so I can't help you with that one.

I was born in Bakersfield! Across the street from K-Mart! (No joke... Memorial Hospital...)

Although I'm sure the person who delivered me is no longer practicing medicine, because my mom has told me he was very old at the time, which would put him pretty much dead at this point. Sorry. I hope you find a good doctor.

Also, for what it's worth, Bakersfield (as with many towns in the Central Valley) can be a little tough to make friends in, mostly because everyone who lives there grew up there, so all their friends are high school and college friends (because most of them went to Bakersfield College, and then Cal State). I would suggest joining Junior League or another group like that. At one point we were transferred to Fresno (which is like Bakersfield North) and I joined Junior League - made a big group of friends right away. Hang in there.

Geez. Since no one who lives in Bakersfield or the area likely saw your question, it's irrational and obnoxious of you to get angry. Only people who live around you could help and this is a nationwide site. You don't see all the different cities listed? Try a local mother's club.

Hi C., do you click the square that says "Is this question specific to a local area"? Not that I know what that DOES exactly!

But yeah, we're spread out all over the WORLD. Upstate NY for me.

Sorry, don't get frustrated. There are probably not enough people from Bakersfield on here that know of a good OB/GYN. I posted the question once for a good doctor and got a few responses but more people are in my area. Good Luck and don't give up. This is just a site, not a solution for all problems.

I don't live in CA, so the best advice I can tell you is to Google "ob/gyn Bakersfield CA".

I'm glad you are getting responses. It's hard when in a new city. Can you ask neighbors, ladies at the gym, ladies from school? Good luck!

You posted your question earlier today at 10am California time. I would guess that those who would respond have either been busy with their day OR were at WORK. Heck it's just now 4pm there. Perhaps a little patience is in order.

But here's a tip for you ... get the yellow pages, look up OB/GYN's and start calling around with a list of questions for the doctors office, start with ones closest to your house. That's really the best way to find a new doctor (or check who your insurance covers). No two people are going to have the same expectations, wants, needs and experiences with a doctor. You have to find the one that fits what YOU expect and the best way to do that is to interview them/their office staff.

I've moved all over the United States and that is what has worked for me when having to find a new doctor ... again. Sometimes I have to switch doctors a time or two till I find one I'm really comfortable with. But that's ok ... that's not only my right but it's my responsibility.

C.,

Did it ever occur to you that none of us know any OB/GYNs in Bakersfield? I'm sure if someone had a referral they would have shared it with you.

Sorry you are having such a hard time adjusting to life in California. What's causing you so much trouble? I would be happy to help if I knew what the problem(s) is/are.
