Hey moms, I have been overly tired for the past couple weeks, and I can't figure out why. My diet hasn't changed, my sleeping schedule is pretty regular, I don't feel stressed out at all. I just don't have any energy! I was hoping someone out there could offer suggestions or possible reasons for being so exhausted, because it's really bumming out my little boy that I don't have the energy to play with him for very long. I would love to fix this! Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Hi S.,
I am going through exactly the same thing and experience it monthly.
I too get good sleep ane eat right. One day I feel great, and the next grumpy & tired.
The best thing I have come up with that is causing this is the birth control pills I take.
It seems if I don't take the pills for a month, I don't experience it.
So if you're on BC, you might want to try a new brand.
Good Luck

PLEASE GET YOUR THYROID CHECKED!! It is very common and if I were you I would go to an endocrinologist. You may have Hypothyroid. Google it and read up on it. Its nothing to be afraid of but get it checked quickly. If you have quetions email me back.

You said you are new to Texas, could the weather have anything to do with it? Is your son getting more active that you have to keep up with him more? And as the other poster suggested, pregnancy is always a possibility.

Hey S.! If it is none of the items already advised below, then I would check out the following. I was feeling the same way earlier this year and come to find out I had toxins & yeast in my blood stream causing chronic fatigue and other issues. I went on the advice of a friend to have some tests run. Dr. John Gonino taught me about a nutrition plan called the Candida diet and provided supplements and an exercise program. I am sleeping 8 hrs., exercising regularly, have lost 15 lbs, and have lots more energy & focus. One of the best things I have ever done for myself!!

Could you be pregnant? That was always a sign for me.

I was thinking the same as the last mom before I saw your replies. Could you be pregnant or coming down with something.

Eat healthy and get plenty of rest.
Good Luck

I don't know what is causing you to be tired, but just a suggestion that I tried once and worked for me. Buy some really good quality, high potency garlic pills (they sell them odorless) and take those for a few days. I went through this once and tried it and it worked. I got mine at Target, but I'm sure they sell them almost anywhere.

two things come to mind right away - if you moved from someplace cooler -- the heat can zap you pretty darn well. And the second is thyroid - already mentioned.

Also in summertime our diet sometimes needs to be changed to lighter foods, and the heat can be oppressive and the humidity has been very high lately - which can also make simple things (like breathing) take more energy. (With the high humidity, and my asthma - when i walk the dogs I become winded much more easily.) You might think about eating lighter foods - salads & fresh fruit. If you start feeling a slump coming on, have a glass of juice, an apple, or an orange to raise your blood sugar a bit. Definately stay away from caffeine and those kinds of drinks -- they can help in the short term, but kick your butt later when you crash. Good Luck!

Hi S.,
Sometimes this Texas heat and Humiditiy can get to us and make us sleepy. Other possible culprits could be low iron levels in your body. I personally take a product called Sibu- it is basically a whole food supplement in liquid form that is packed full of vitamins. I also have a son who is 3 and1/2 - so if you are looking to meet new people, we are up for meeting for play dates. We live in Melissa. Let me know if your interested, maybe the little ones can play and moms can rest. HA. HA yea right.

My first thought was thyroid too. You might not be able to get into an endocrinologist without a referral, but you can have a doc or clinic run a blood test. If your levels are abnormal, they will refer you. I had NO energy and turns out I had a temporary thyroid disorder. After about a year on synthetic thryroid, I'm back to normal. Hope you figure it out, whatever it is.

Hi S.,

There are several very treatable conditions that could make you overly tired. To name a few - you could be anemic, hypothyroid, your adrenal glands could be supressed or you could be pregnant. At my office I use applied kinesiology (muscle testing) to determine what organs are involved and then I prescribe the correct nutritional remedy to counteract the condition. I have had a tremendous response! If you are interested you can give me a call at ###-###-####. Thanks!
